Have Samsung fixed all of these issues with their latest models?
Reason why I ask is that I'll need to be buy a new fridge freezer very soon and I was considering a Samsung but all these issues have put me off!0 -
I understand that the problems have now been fixed. According to the engineer, the the fridge wasn't defrosting properly, which made ice build up around the fan. This ice caught on the fan, which made the fridge noisy, and eventually it stopped, which stopped the fridge from working. The temperature gauge showed a false temperature because there are 2 temperature gauges, one at the top & one at the bottom, and the one at the bottom was getting iced up. These problems have now been sorted, by altering the way the fridge defrosts - so it doesn't ice up and also re-siting the lower temperature gauge.
I'm really pleased that Samsung have sorted out the problem, 'cos I love the fridge.0 -
Hi,
My RS21 has just started with the noisy fan - sounds like it's coming from the freezer though. I removed the fridge panels as per the instructions in this thread (thanks by the way). Nothing major in terms of ice - just a small 2" block of ice in a corner which I removed. Put everything back together and the noise is still there, it's like the fan is knocking something when slowing down. Has anybody else had this problem? Trying to remove the freezer covers looks a nightmare as I have an icemaker. I've contacted appliancediyrepairs as well.
Any experience in this problem or fix is appreciated.
Cheers....0 -
Hi there,
I would just like to thank the forum for this thread.
Have had the above for three years with no problems at all until yesterday morning when the noise started.
Was searching the internet last night and tried looking for some clue as to the cause, found this thread, rang Samsung this morning and with a mention of Watchdog I have an engineer booked to come tomorrow afternoon.
How it turns out is anyone's guess but without this place I would have been paying a call out charge etc with no clue about the inherent faults in the machine.0 -
Thanks to MSE regarding defrosting problems etc. and lots of other research on the net I've found out that my RHS1 needs to be looked at by Samsung because of a fault which may make it set on fire?! A question though, as suggested in a previous thread I took off the back of the fridge to help defrost the ice from the fan. It worked, however when Samsung come to check out the fault will they refuse to fix it because I've taken a few screws out? I bought it nearly 3 years ago so it is out of waranty but faults have been recognised on this model. Any ideas?0

I have a RSA1NTPE American style freezer, the warranty expired in January 2011. After reading this forum yesterday and speaking with an engineer he identified mine as having similar problems and requiring a compressor and new fan, he suggested definitely phoning Samsung. I just have and the customer services stated that I should have had a modification and they would send an engineer free of charge to inspect, upgrade and hopefully fix this fault. Thanks to all who post on these forums. I will post and update once the engineer has been.0

I have model RSH1NHMH with problems on fridge side that seem to be quite common from what ive been reading, its out of warranty and ive seen a lot of people (on other forums too) saying they have bought a repair kit from APPLIANCE DIY REPAIRS -
my question is ... are they all using this as a general term for appliance repair companies? or is this actually the companies name, because if it is i cant seem to find them? Does anyone know/ have any contact info or a link for them for them?0 -
Thanks to everyone for the defrosting tips. We had this problem week before Christmas and managed to sort it out BUT were dismayed to find that the problem has re emerged this week and we are defrosting yet again as I type.
Does anyone have any suggestions for the next course of action? I have been reading the posts on the Samsung models, ours is samsungrsh1nbrs, is three years old and has been refitted to repair the faulty component that has been causing these to catch on fire.
We paid a considerable sum of money for this and are really frustrated with the ongoing DIY fixes that we seem to have to do just to ensure that it is working. I am considering writing to Samsung to request that all faulty components are repaired free of charge as there is clearly an issue with the design and manufacture of this item, if the response is unsatisfactory I am planning to follow this up using the template letter that is linked to one of the posts citing the sale of goods act. Has anyone tried this approach and what success have you had with Samsung?0 -
From what I know, the RSH range seems afflicted with the same (or more) issues just as the RS range before it was which was featured on Watchdog.
Samsung have agreed to repair the RS range due to Watchdog basically but seem to be not so keen on any of the others that have a similar or the same fault/s.
Watchdog have been told about the ongoing issues by some members of the public and some of the engineers but it seems there's not too much interest unless a lot of people complain about it.
I'm sure you can find the BBC Watchdog site without my help.
