Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Just as an update, the engineer came today, and brought with him a service pack, which contained the whole of the fan assembly panel and the defrosting element. Took him about 15 mins, free of charge.

I must say from ringing on 24th to having it done on the 30th, with Christmas in between is great service. All this done with 3 months to go to the end of the extended 5 year warranty

Great customer service I would say.
  • i have a samsung rse8dzas and while investigating the reason for no crushed ice I have broken the spring on the ice bucket, can anyone suggest where to get the ice bucket fixed?
  • Our fridge has been getting louder for a while i kept switching it of for a couple of days not very practical, then the temerature started to rise, after looking at the prices of them decided to ring them today as we bought it in 2004 thought we would have no chance,i explained i knew it had been on watchdog & that there was a fire hazard, the man was quite polite & told me that samsung had extended the warranty to 5 years so there was nothing they could do now i would have to pay but couldn't tell me how much it would cost, i told him i had paid for a 5 year warranty, i asked what the fire hazzard was, and he explained that samsung had extended the warranty to 5 years and ther was nothing they could do, i said i wasn't deaf! so he explained the fire hazzard was the fan sparking, i told him i was asking because i had 2 small children and was very worried, i also asked if i could sue samsung if it caught fire, he said yes! then to my suprise he said he would ask his manager if there was anything they could do, he came back on and said they would send the engineer to fix it free of charge replacing 6 faulty parts and would contact me within 24hrs to arrange a time brilliant so thanks everyone! and to others lay it on thick and stamp your feet a bit they are obviously in the wrong and know it! Today is much cheaper than i thought it would be!

  • Hi All,

I've searched this thread and found a couple of mentions of the model of fridge we have. We've got a Samsung SR-S2028 side-by-side fridge freezer. Very recently I noticed water at the base of the freezer. However, the temperature display was still showing the chosen temperatures of -18 and 3.

I then switched it on and off at the plug. It then began to work again only to stop when it reached the correct temperature. Then after a few hours it needs the on/off at the plug trick to kick it back to life.

I have not seen any answers to this problem, unless I have to do the same defrost as has been suggested..

    Any suggestions would be great..Thanks

    Hi

Fisrt of all im not sure if this is the right thread, but if not can someone please correct this.

OK we brought a Samsung RS21 fridge back in 2004. This is the famous fridge that was on BBC watchdog that had a design fault. Anyway the fridge broke down back in 2007 and Samsung sent out an engineer for free who fixed.it under warranty. The Samsung engineer who fixed it said the problem will re-occour again, as it is designed wrong.

It's now not working and as the warrenty has now expired will cost to put right.

Is there anything i can do?

As always all advise is very welcome
    Thank you
  • I have recently had this problem and it just stopped.
Now the bottom of the fridge is freezing my Veg and the cold water has ceased to work.
My Fridge Freezer is out of warranty so what recourse would I have if this is indeed a design fault?
Or how do I fix it?
  • My RSA1WTMH stopped working a couple of days ago age 2 years and 5 months. Engineer says it needs a new fan and compressor around £300!
Samsung flatly refuse to take responsibility and I will never use them again. I am trying to take up a case against Comet (supplier) instead under the Sale of Goods Act. Has anyone tried this? It appears simple, a FF should be expected to last more that 2 years without a major breakdown (I've only ever had 1 freezer breakdown and that was 35years old).
However if it is simple why do Comet sell extended warranties or are they just preying on people's ignorance.
In the meanwhile tell anyone who will listen to avoid buying Samsung at all costs.

These really are horror stories. I am getting an American style FF and I won't be buying a Samsung!

Yes, they are cheaper than equivalent German brands but I think I'll stick with one of them. There's no guarantee I won't end up with a lemon, but I tend to trust German reliability more than Korean.

    Hi Arf

I was sorry to learn of the problems you have experienced. The Sale of Goods Act, does cover consumers for products that have proven defects etc, however, after discussing this with our technical experts, the faults listed could be the cause of fair wear and tear which would not cover you under the Act. Our product covers are a protection for customers should their product become faulty after the manufacturers guarantee has expired, and not for any other reason.

We do offer a fixed price repair service, which I have provided you with a link to the details of this below. This will cover the cost of call out and evaluation, labour, parts required for up to £150, with a 3 month guarantee on the repair. Should the parts required exceed £150, we will advise you of any additional cost.

    http://www.comet.co.uk/static/services/faults-repairs/no_warranty/fridge-freezer-repairs

If, once our engineer has inspected the appliance, we find that the fault to be a proven defect, we will refund the monies paid and complete your repair free of charge under the Sales of Goods Act.

    Hope this helps

    Ninth Anniversary Combo Breaker
I'd had mine for 2 1/2 years when it developed the icing-up fault. I took the back panel off and let all the ice that had built up around the fan, melt. Then put it back together again. That got it working again. I emailed Samsung's customer service department on Tuesday night (1/3/11) and requested a service call for the problem to be rectified. A service engineer telephoned me yesterday and called round this morning (3/3/11) and fitted the replacement part f.o.c. Less than 3 days to sort it out. I think Samsung customer service is brilliant.
