  • Hi all just to let everyone know that it pays to be patient!!
I have a brand new 2010 model fridge totally free of charge and the old smelly one is gone off for a drive :)
Thanks very much samsung! cold beer for the weekend
  • I have a Samsung RS20CCMS which is about 5 years old. On Thursday I noticed that the temperature display for the fridge was flashing '5', so I turned it off and when it came back on it was showing 18. I turned it down to 1 and by the next morning it had gone down to 8. This morning it was down to 6, but now it is back up to 9.

Could this be caused by the problems everyone above is having with the fan in this model sticking and is it worth contacting Samsung?
  • I also have an RS20CCMS around 5 years old - no problems with the temperature - but for some reason it's developed a leak underneath the freezer compartment - and I can't figure out where it's from. As I said, everything else is working normally. Any ideas??
  • Samsung are aware of a design fault on some american style fridge freezers.
If yours is one of these phone samsung direct quote your model number, inform them you are aware of the watch dog reports on the fridge freezer problems .
The retailer who sold you the freezer is liable for defective goods sold ,up to 6 years after purchase.
If yours is one of the design fault freezers ,samsung will probably resolve the issue ,rather than you taking the retailer to court under sale of goods act, european directive
It is a design fault, and this over rides any outstanding warranties.
    Do not be fobed off
that the manufactuers warranty has expired
If it is under 6 years old and defective in design ,you must request samsung or the retailer take responsibilities for your problem

My samsung rs21 dcns is now 6 yrs old and has developed another problem with the freezer comp.
I rang Samsung when the fridge freezer was 5 yrs and 3 mths old when the fridge comp went wrong and was fobbed off.
After reading your post regarding the six years i rang Samsung and complained that i was not told this the last time i rang.
An engineer is coming out on Monday to fix it for free:)
  • We didn't have any joy whatsoever in getting Samsung to pay for our repair, as it seems many people haven't. For anyone experiencing the normal non-cooling issue or noise issue from their Samsung fridge, I would always go to Appliance DIY Repairs, and buy a repair kit to fix it yourself. It's a straight forward easy repair and also a very cheap way to do it in comparison to what some people have paid, and you can do it at a time that suits you. We did the repair on our fridge some time ago and it has been great ever since. My daughter also did the same repair on her fridge with a kit bought from Appliance DIY Repairs, and she is very pleased with it as well.

Please look at my post above yours and look at the video clip.
Do not be fobbed off with Samsung customer service. All you have to do is mention the sale of goods act

This has now been fixed, the sensor in the freezer section had failed and wasn't telling the heater element to defrost the ice. For those of you that are trying to find the fan, it is behind the panel in the freezer.
  • I'm very sorry for all the people who have had so many problems with these appliances - but glad I found this thread as I was considering buying one of these fridge freezers. It seems that the RSH1 (or similar models) are still on sale all over the place, without any indication that they are either fault-ridden or have been fixed.

Does anybody know if the apparently later Samsung models like the RSH 5 or 7 share the unreliability and dangerous tendencies of the RSH1 ones? If not, any views on good alternatives?
  • ^^ I'm also interested to know! I really like the look of the Samsung ones but if they keep breaking down then will have to go for another make. I've heard LG is good
  • what a fantastic site this is. even though im not in the market for a new FF, i started to read this thread, and it has totally put me off buying samsung in the future. i hope everyone has managed to get sorted. one thing that did spring to mind to all those people who have reported it to the 'not so bothered samsung', has any body thought of contacting 'watchdog, the bbc programme....inform them of this site and let them see the comments etc for themselves. if nothing else it may get a 15 minute slot on tv and samsung may be forced into action to fix this so obvious fault and the people who feature in any watchdog involvement normally get some kind of 'compensation', be it a new appliance or a refund for an invoice for un-neccessary work which u may have paid for. what have u got to lose.....good luck.
