This problem is very easy to fix! what's happened is, someone in the household has inadvertently left the fridge door ajar and the fridge went into overdrive trying to maintain a constant temperature. This has caused ice to built up around the fan inside the fridge compartment. The fan can be accessed by removing the light assembly and the fan cover just below the light cover (it is fairly simple to disassemble). Once this piece has been removed you will be able to see the offending ice build-up. use a hair dryer to melt away the ice, once melted refit the cover and light assembly and restart the fridge. Problem solved. Ensure you unplug fridge while carrying out this fix. Otherwise simply defrost the fridge over 24 to 36 hours.0

I have read all the helpful threads and am attempting to unscrew the panel in the freezer but I have taken the screws out with no problem but cant see how to take the panel off...any ideas anyone?
sounds like we shouldnt have bought a samsung!!0 -
i have done it...just didnt realise you could take off the panel around the sensor...what a mission - managed to get more ice off both freezer and fridge parts but I have put everything back and turned it back on and now the freezer compartment says 19 degrees and fridge 20 degrees...does it take a while for it to get cold?
thanks -0 -
i seem to be having similar problems to the rest of you with the freezer. hoping its just the fan which has frozen up. want to take it off and take a look. but can someone tell me EXACTLY where the panel is before i start dismantling the thing.
thanks in advance guys.0 -
I have de-iced the fan on my FF for the 2nd time in 6 months. i have put it all back together but the digital control panel & the ice maker have stopped working. panel is receiving power as half of one of the numbers is flashing but
nothing else is lighting up. also the ice is starting to melt as ice hatch is stuck open. I am sure I have done something wrong but can't work it out. I have taken internal panel off again to ensure I have put everything back correctly and it all looks OK. Can anyone help please ?????
PS it was working fine before I took internal panel off to de-ice the fan.0 -
Well they haven't called back - even though I was promised a call back within 7 days (ie yesterday). I phoned again today and they say that it has been 'referred' but there is no update showing on the computer. The Team I spoke to were based in Ireland - the Escalation Team (as they call themselves) are apparently in Scotland so God knows who they will pass me onto next!
Having had three repairs in three years, and the unit appears to be malfunctioning again, Samsung is replacing the fridge freezer. Delivery 23 Feb (could have been 16 but not convenient for me).
I have lost money because of perished food (too much hassle to claim this sort of stuff); however, I am happy with the service from Samsung. My replacement is RSH1DB - I have no idea what this is like so shall wait and see.0 -
I emailed Samsung directly about our freezer problems and threatened to take them to the small claims court if I didn't get a free repair carried out, having previously been refused same when I phoned their helpline. Low and behold, I received an email back telling me that they had booked me in for a repair.
The service guy called, fitted an electronic board of some kind, by late evening we noticed the temperature going up again on both fridge and freezer, interior lights not working. Phoned the service company here in Ireland and they said they would have someone there the next day. He said the other guy had fitted a part for the RS21 instead of the RS20, fitted another new part and it has been working well since. The only thing I notice is a buzz that wasn't there before but I'm willing to put up with that if it keeps working. When I see othe posts where repairs haven't lasted, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that we won't be one of the unlucky ones.
Don't be fobbed off by the help lines, go to the top and fight for your rights. Remember products sold in Europe come under a 6 year warrenty, so check legislation for details of your consumer rights.0 -

Mine is being replaced tomorrow with a RSH1FBRS model - which is supposed to have all the bits that my old one had (hopefully not the same b***** fault!). I hope the exchange goes smoothly - its a pain that they want to remove the old one at the same time as I've had to buy a small chest freezer to decant my frozen stuff into . I will keep my fingers crossed and report back.ELITE 5:2

Due the to huge problems Samsung gave the owners a fiver year guarantee on these models. I bought one of the affected Fridge/Freezers and the fridge stopped cooling and iceing up. My fridge stopped working 4 days outside of this and depsite calls Samsung refused to send anyone even on a goodwill claim to repair. the freezer worked so I used that and used a small fridge as I couldnt afford another £700 for a new model. 3 weeks ago I received a card and to call them to get the fridge checked due to an electrical safety issue.... the man came this morning and fixed the fridge....the problem, well it was the same problem that I reported to them nearly 6 months ago and they refused to repair...I am very cross now that I find out that they 'knew' this fault was potentially dangerous but used the 'its just out of warranty' to get out of their obligation to repair. Disgusting money grabbing company who clearly are not prepared to put the safety of their customers above their corporate greed and I am sure it is only the fact that consumer pressure and the vast numbers of people complaining have got them to take this seriously. I do hope it costs them millions and also a dent in their image in the market place. I will never ever ever buy samsung again..ever.Dont wait for your boat to come in 'Swim out and meet the bloody thing'0
