    LOL!

It IS Moneysaving, buying NOT the cheapest, not the dearest, but getting value for £$£$

£3000 for a fridge!!? No way - our LG, if it were to fail after 3 years, it's cost £700.
With the balance invested when interest rates were a bit more generous, would give £150 towards a new one, as well as having the latest energy efficient model, too.

I agree, £3k is a bit much, but some ppl are prepared to pay that. (I'm not one of them BTW) lol
If it looks like a duck, and quacks like a duck, we have at least to consider the possibility that we have a small aquatic bird of the family anatidae on our hands

  • Dear gfb

I have a freezer the same as yours (had it for approx 5 yrs - so well out of warrranty) and I could not believe it when I read your post with instructions on how to resolve the problem, which was exactly the same as I was encountering - warm at top of fridge, reading 17 degrees and not coming down. Well anyway to cut a long story short, I printed the instructions off and read them to my husband who because of your fantastic help was able to fix the freezer. Please accept our sincere thanks and as you said in your post, we have probably saved ourselves £200 and this is because of you. We owe you a pint!! And not a warm one!!!
  • I also have this fault. After a very frustrating phone call to samsung who told me that this fault had NEVER been reported by any other customer i was told i would have to pay a call out fee plus parts and labour.
As you all can see its a very common fault so it must have been reported by many people.
After that i emailed watch dog to see if they could help. Obviously they wont investigate it on just 1 persons request so if we all email them then maybe they will help us and samsung will do their duty and recall all the fridges and replace them with NON FAULTY fridges.
    COME ON PEOPLE GET EMAILING

Hi i have a Samsung fridge freezer and not had a problem til three months ago a noise coming from the fridge didn't think anything to it until a week ago the noise was getting louder and would stop when opened the fridge door, engineer came out today, said had a few faults one of them was a manufactuer fault, couldnt fix it said wait to see if samsung will replace it, was a very slim chance so now fridge off and food thawing out thanks samsung, what ever you do if you hear a noise call engineer straight away!!!

Mine has that noise now & again, its the fan being noisy. Stops as soon as the door is opened.

Also the water has stopped working on mine (did a few months ago for a day, now is at it again), but this time its been a week & isn't comming back on.

I didn't get the extended warranty:mad:

    Is it worth fixing:confused:

Do I need to replace it:rolleyes:

I've had my RS21 Samsung fridge freezer for around 4 years but now I'm getting the same problem as everyone else; the unit is making a loud clicking noise (catching fan I assume) and the fridge is not getting below 10°C.

I'm currently in the middle of attempting the fix highlighted on howtomendit.com:
    http://www.howtomendit.com/answers.php?id=45097

Basically turn your unit off for 48 hours to let it fully defrost and to dissipate all the ice build up.

I'm turning it back on tonight so I'll let you know how it goes.

Also here's an article from when the RS21 Fridge Freezer was exposed on watchdog

    Mine is cold as usual:confused:

But got the noise (about once a month for a few minutes) & the lack of water:mad:

oh no, i am very worried now, just bought a Samsung, it's the one without the water/ice dispenser though. I really hope it's going to be ok, i've had so much hassle with a washing machine lately (whirlpool) i don't want any more!.

  • After a bit of internet trawling i found the watchdog article.

Samsung have stated that ANYONE who has problems with this fride WILL get a free repair by samsung no matter how old the fridge is.They also said it WAS a design fault and the fridge was not not "fit for purpose" just ring 0800 9880123 and dont take no for an answer. here is the page http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=2088
Hope this cheers you up as i am now over the moon
  • I rang samsung from the number on the watchdog page and they sent an engineer out. he came today and fitted all new parts. THE REASON THE WATER DISPENSER STOPS WORKING IS BECAUSE ITS FROZEN SOLID! He steamed all the ice away fixed it and even replaced the water pipes and dispenser as when it freezes it weakens the parts and you could have a chence the pipe to the water dispenser will crack. All good now. so EVERYONE use the link on my last note and get yours fixed completely FREE.

Our Samsung RS21 starting playing up last week with the same problems as those mentioned above.I thought it was just a temporary problem however after finding this thread (to my horror last night) have reported the problem to Samsung. They told me that they will be sending out an engineer and will be replacing the faulty parts with new modified ones. Has anyone who had the new modified parts replaced continued to experience the same problem or are samsung just looking to get the RS21 products over the 5 year age limit so that they can walk away with their pockets full?
