EL just called - she has just paid £267.46 into the bank !!!!! She feels that she has won a moral victory and the landlady paid up the amount awarded by the judge there and then !!

The counter claim against EL re the LL claiming legal fees for the letting agent case was dismissed !!

she will come back on later on and give everyone the gory details !!

at last the Evil LL did the decent thing at the end of the day
I'm very pleased to hear it ... Good for EL !!

What ... You mean that in the same way as Hitler's retreat in 1945 **or** Rachman's decision to "voluntarily" upgrade his properties, I presume :p

    Cheers

Congrats EL! And for what it's worth, the Evil LL will still have a CCJ against her name, as a result of the court passing judgement. She can ask to have it lifted, and if she wants to do so she needs to get a written statement from EL testifying that payment was made within the 28 days allowed by the courts. And if she wants to do that, it'll cost her money! Victory!

TBH, I'm a little disappointed by the amount ...

Yep... For some reason I thought their orig. dep was more... and surely expenses would be yet more on top...

Then again, in the thread of longness, I do remember EL saying that she expected to lose some of the deposit when they left, but not end up owing more, so maybe that's what it all came to in the wash!

I'm dying to know if Evil LL turned up on crutches ... "oh y'honour... I've got a toe on me foot and a bone in me leg... I couldn't get to my mailing address for any day that ends in "y"... budgie died..."

Anyway - so long as EL feels a sense of victory for all this slog, that's the most important thing... that it was worth it for them...

    Huzzah one and all!

Maybe el, you should make her wait a year before you write a written statement and then charge her the rest of the deposit for it. You could be suffering from any sort of debilitating illness that stops you writing or even dictating such a statement. I would enjoy making her sweat but then i'm a great believer in fairness and what goes around comes around:D Well done on the victory:T

Disappointing amount - it'll be interesting to hear the breakdown.

Any idea of the amount of the legal fees counterclaim? I'm hoping the LL had to shell out more than she gained from keeping the deposit.....
