Problem with a work colleague!

Thanks Outernet, that is a good way to put it.
 Thanks to everyone else.
Well today she still thought I had gone to work in my car, when in fact I had OH's but didn't tell her.
At about 12 she got a phonecall from a member of her family and I heard her say " Oh don't bother coming to pick me up I'll get **** (the girl from the other dept) to fetch me home, yes , that'll save on petrol won't it"?
I couldn't believe the cheek of it. I saw the other girl a bit later and asked if she'd been asked for a lift, yes she had and was really peed off and said she could only go part of the way, "that's OK" was the reply.
We both feel bad about her situation but we don't want the hastle tbh.
I was feeling a bit mean but when I think about all the baby clothes I gave her for first grandchild and then a travel cot I'd only used twice I just think sort yourself out.
I'm becoming a bit resentful because of the way she goes about expecting me to give her a lift. Especially seeing as though I'm going to have to spend a small fortune on my car, it sort of brings it home that I'm not exactly well off and I'm going to have to borrow money to fix my car so why should I put up with someone taking advantage. so why should I put up with someone taking advantage.
You,ve given me some good advice, thanks everyone. :T

We would all like to have our travelling expences paid for us wouldn't we. Tell her if she wishes to shar the car then she should be willing to share the expenceWhy pay full price when you may get it YS 0 0

you know Kittie, all through this thread I had assumed (wrongly) that this was a young girl! When you said you had given her things for her Grand daughter I was shocked! This is a woman who really should know better at her age.
I wonder if she would be happy with someone taking advantage of her own child like that!?0

Well if it was me I would screw the 'Me time' and ask her to pay generous travel expenses and use it to get some of those debts paid off!Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20

Maybe you should ask her and husband for a lift home from work one day since your car is broken// just to see what she says. I once got conned into the daily lift by a new colleague who told me his car was in the garage, weeks later we discovered he didn't even have a licence. I stopped giving hm a lift because I had to go miles out of my way and he never even said thanks let alone offered anything for fuel.0

Lol pullip, no she's almost 50!
Yes honey, I should get my OH to take me to work and then cadge - no tell her I'm having a lift off her.
 Oh you've got to laugh.
I think I'd be on a non-starter with that one oyster :rotfl:

Next time she asks for a lift I'd ask her if there's a problem with her regular journey and after the response say you can give her a lift this time if she's really stuck but can't continue doing regular lifts, say since you've started driving alone you've realise how it's improve your organisation by allowing me to do/plan the jobs that you normally rush about to do... ie nip to the supermarket, friends, near by relatives etc...0

 This one made me laugh!!
If you do it (and I think it's a fab idea!!) be sure to take a picture of the look on her face, and post it here for us to see!!
OP: Sorry, I can't give you a lift today as my car's not working
Free loader: Oh well never mind, I'll get hubby to pick me up
OP: Great!! You won't mind dropping me off on your way then since I've been giving you lifts all this time....0
