Problem with a work colleague!

Your car isn't a Toyota Prius is it? You can't have missed hearing that they are being recalled for a brake problem.
Do be careful and don't take any chances. Maybe that other colleague (the one who also got corralled into giving "her" a lift) might help you out for a couple of days while you get the car looked at. I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe 0 0

Lol Bogof_Babe, no she hasn't offered me a lift.
I'm going to use OH's car seeing as though there's very little traffic on the road when he's travelling to work he can use mine until we can get it into a garage. I have to take the children to their aunts this week as well so i don't want to risk their wellbeing.
And no it's not a Prius, I might have got it fixed by the manufacturer *shrugs* it's a Passat so I don't know if they have brake probs as a norm? I think I'll nip over to the motoring boards to ask the good peeps there.Karma - the consequences of ones acts."It's OK to falter otherwise how will you know what success feels like?"1 debt v 100 days £20000

So apart from the brakes, this has kind of solved your problem you will just have to avoid her.0

Not sure if anyone has brought this up but what if you had an accident she could claim off your insurance. There are a few people I could give lifts to on a regular basis but decided not to offer for this very reason as well as being tied to taking someone else all the time.
I would just tell her straight out that it doesn't suit you to give her a lift, she doesn't need excuses it's your car
p.s. if you are arranging for her to give you money make sure you also include a share of tax, insurance & wear and tear as well as petrol
Good luckBusy mum of 3, so if my posts don't make sense or ask a silly question be patient:rotfl:0

My sister had a similar problem as the OP when a colleague she doesn't even work with asked if she could give her a lift in a way that made it sound as if it was a one off, then acted as if it was a regular arrangement.
I told my sis to make out she had things to do and wean her off so she started telling her she could only give her a lift once that week as she wasn't going that way after work.
Like other posters above I wouldn't even think of trying to get someone to drive me around even though I don't drive and have to get clear across the other side of town and into the countryside to get to mt workplace.
I hope the OP manages to sort it out without hard feelings in the office.0

I got a blank stare as though it was taking a while to sink in, then in a chirpy voice she says " Oh that's no problem I'll get my DH to pick me up"
Didnt I read somewhere on here that the lady in questions husband cant pick her up as he needs the car for very immediate appts or something?
Strange that he hasnt got an immediate appt that day.;)0

What about...I don't mean to hurt your feelings, but I won't be able to give you a lift home anymore because its the only time I get to myself to talk to my family on the phone (hands free of course) and I need my privacy.0

I think the OP should print off and laminate a tariff like a taxi cab, e.g.
 Kittie's Cabs
 £1 for first mile,
 70p per subsequent mile
50p for each minute kept waiting
Next time colleague asks for a lift just hand it to her! I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe 0 0

I think she should print one up and leave it in the car anyway.Grocery challenge year budget €3K Jan €190 Feb €225 Mar €313 Apr €202 May €224 June €329 July €518 Aug €231Sep €389 Oct €314 Nov €358 Dec €335 Total spent €3628

this is about the best post on this thread.
Why all the suggestions of lying, skullduggery, just be honest !!!!!!.
Its your car, its your choice who you want in it.
You need to do it soon, because it will fester and fester in your brain so that if it all comes out at once when youve had enough it will come out all wrong and you will be the bad guy. Go for it, nice and polite but get it over with.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0
