You know the more I think about this, apart from the fact that I was obviously an utter pillock for trusting these so called successful 'no nonsense' experts in reclaiming, the more I really get angry. I was soooo inexperienced 2 years ago and took the 'safe & easy' option to have an 'expert' do it swiftly & successfully (getting sidetracked there's ppi reclaiming ad on tv at this very moment grrr!)
I was assured all the way, "we're so quick, we have the knowledge & expertise, highly successful, yada yada yada". god what a mug I was!
Anyway, have made all the right noises now with watson's. ball's in their court. Answer to me or to the law society. simple as! thanks to everyone and their advice. (huge thank's to maxdp on this forum especially!)
promise to keep you all updated on any further developments.0 -
The Home visit agent was Reclaim Legal Services Ltd. If further information was required I was to contact their (Watsons) administration department Konsul Ltd0

Hi, he said he was an ex policeman turned private investigator and that he had been asked to present the documents and I was to show him any insurance cover I may or may not already have so as the solicitor could ascertain whether I already had sufficient legal cover (on my house insurance) or would need to take out additional insurance. But he'd never heard of ppi reclaiming and was intrigued to know what it was all about as this was his first time delivering documents relating to this type of thing. this made my hubby a bit unerved. I told him not to worry (oh what a brainbox i am!) as it had nothing to do with the agent. he was just being paid to drop off documents for us to sign. Now as I had already been, ahem, 'assured' many times that there would never be any cost whatsoever to us i had no reason to doubt anything at the time. (yes, I can hear myself hysterically laughing at that too). Still, we live and learn.
i wish I could find that card. I think it's been thrown out. I remember he was from Aberdare though.
By the way, reading down through this thread i'm interested to know how many success stories there have been aswell because i distinctly remember being told of the 'many' success stories where people had claimed back much more than just the ppi.:rotfl:

No, this doesn't sound familiar to me. But then it's entirely possible it could be. I only glanced at the card briefly and it stayed in a jug on my fireplace for ages. I just remembered the conversation because he was not a million miles away from us and we had a friend who had retired from CID. I remembered him saying he was ex-CID. So we were chatting away about that and asking if he knew him. it was cups of tea and chit chat. very relaxed. In all honesty, he was a nice guy. And as he seemed basically totally unconnected, I had no reason to worry. Or so I thought. (god what a plank!) He just seemed like a glorified postman/courier (for want of a better word). He'd just been sent to deliver documents for us to sign. And that's really the way it came across. We were certainly never told by any party that this guy was supposed to go through everything and make us understand what we were letting ourselves in for. As I said, he knew diddly about this whole process. And as I thought he was nothing to do with anything I didn't panic. (unlike hubby)0

yes, I know what a mess. It's all so conflicting. Why can these solicitors not just return files with no fees/bills and let that be an end to it? At least we can all move forward in some way or another. I'm just hoping watson's will do that and let us get on with it ourselves. It's been going on way too long and to be fair there are so many more people that have been waiting even longer than us. I think we've all had enough. The lesson for me here is not to be so gullible and have everything in plain English, black & white, and if I don't understand it then don't do it!
As for claims companies I would NEVER EVER go down this road again. I reclaimed 3 from lloyds now MYSELF! thanks to the good advice from everyone on this website. It can be done. No matter how daunting.0 -
marshallka wrote: »So a private investigator (investigating what???), come ex policeman signed you to the solicitors then and did not have clue what they were signing you up to so asked you about it. Very strange and did you not question it then? I think from then on I would have been checking them out moo cow. Maxdp also said that ex policemen were often the ones that called on people. SO you have no name of the company then and also no record of what was actually said about fees etc as Petermb has said in his post? This seems very odd to me.
They were just working for the Solicitor just to make sure that the paperwork was signed. I was told by Solicitor when they booked for him to go round that I was not to ask them questions although obviously I could about the paperwork.
I do not believe that they were anything to do with Loancheck etc. Just employed by the Solicitor to make sure paperwork was filled in correctly. They got in touch from their own office nothing through the Solicitor.:mad:0 -

I dealt with petermb as well through 'fair return' and he had my paperwork for 8 months and has done absolutely nothing. I would have been better off trying to do it myself. I would be much further along. I was asssured it would all be done in 4 months blah blah and then he changed solicitors and again assured me and here I am with no replies to emails etc and I am really angry and upset that he promised all this and that and that people had won cases and he was dealing with a nearly 100 people on here (which put me at ease and maybe I shouldnt have fell for that)
I need to find the template letters on here somewhere now and carry on with what I was doing before he contacted me. :mad:MPs left feb '08 276- Dec 13 36 :T MB Jan 10 ~ £82,377 Dec 13 ~ £29987
