    Something here about file retention
    File retention

Your solicitor is entitled to hold on to papers and documents that belong to you until you have paid your solicitor's bill. This legal right is called a "lien". After your case is closed, they will keep your file for a number of years.
We (the Legal Complaints Service) will retain your complaint file for two years and three months after your complaint has been resolved.
If your solicitor's practice closes, please contact the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA). The SRA will help you obtain your file.

But you are entitled to see your file at any time

But not to get it back and out of their hands? This is confusing. If they say that monies are due then they can retain it, is that what the SRA are saying? Could Watsons use that one in that clients owe them money? BUT would they have to actually get back in touch within a time limit specified to actually say that.

Are people best actually requesting the files then and take it from there?

Petermb seems to not be giving advice anymore on here.
But surely he would answer to his client through the company she went through. Maybe worth a try there. If only to get documents back.

Not really as they haven't presumably billed the clients.

None I would think as they cannot as the forums where they post are un moderated and the threads were removed at the "threat" of action weren't they. They are taking David Jack to court but looks like the other "investigations" are ongoing with no court case and also Scam.co are now being issued with legal proceedings. (legal action pending)

If you hold the cursor on the investigation bit these are the forums and individuals they have a grievance with.

    or schroll down here

:wall::wall:I thought they only billed if they pulled out BUT surely they have broke the rules also by not getting in touch as some have posted on here.

Have had Contract from other Solicitors (deliberately not named) but am going to question some of the contents of it. Will not be charged has suddenly been changed to may not be charged etc etc. Am going through point by point and questioning. If may also be time barred, but, they say there can be ways of getting round this but speed is of the escence at the moment just to be sure...................
