You simply can't call it "top spec" when it isn't, and you really don't inspire confidence in your claims about its picture quality.

Ok then, tell us the spec of you preferred Panasonic Plasma (& price! ...42PX60? ....42PHD?) & we'll compare them side by side...I can think that only the colour bit depth will be different....& on this set the skin tones are perfect & the blacks aren't noisy with no solarisation at all so that (in this real world instance at leas, has no negative impact whatsoever).

In fact I'd go so far that the spec of this set might even trump your chosen 'premium top quality' set in many ways but we'll see.

as discuss earlier i can agree that fujitsu is a premium, highly rated panel but *fujitsu-siemens* is not

I have read all this and am still in two minds about buying it, will it be HD and look amazing with my xbox360?
    cheers

LCD is going to over take Plasma in a year or two. Don't know why people don't just stick with what they already have and wait for a better picture and also price. There is not enough content in HD atm to justify paying for a sky box £300, and £10 pm extra for a few channels. I'm going to wait I think. I think HD will really come into its own when they turn off analogue and go Digital.
    Kind Regards
    Bill

futijsu-siemens looks brilliant, but much better option is to buy Panasonic PX60 though you have to spend extra £300ish

You cand find cheaper price elsewhere and get it pricematched with john lewis. JL have 5 year free warranty attached to all TVs

It's more than a year or two ago since people started to say that! Panasonic is betting on plasma at the moment for its better sets; Sony on LCD.

I'd certainly wait around for a bit as most plasmas/LCDs have worse pictures than CRTs at the moment - this has got to change soon. But as with computers, you can wait for ever for the price to stop dropping and it never will.

I agree - lots of spectrum released for terrestrial ("Freeview") HD.

I've ordered one, great spot, read this thread throughly and can say that there are pros and cons (as there are with everything) my tv set went bang a month ago, so have been watching a 22 inch, I think this will prove to be a top purchase considering the price.
Comet and currys haven't got anywhere near as good a set as this for the money.

    At last someone positive..... :T

You're gonna love it....I've now lived with mine for two weeks. Having had a 32" Sony Wega for 7-8 years, I was more than a little anxious that the picture might not meet my expectations - I needn't have worried. I still can't believe the quality AND the price..... no matter what the naysayers on here might say/think :p

I'm another 'positive' Hankmcspank, waiting this morning in anticipation for the man from 'Citylink' to arrive. Great spot, after consulting the AVforum site to weigh up the fors and against's i decided to pay the extra £16 and go for the Savastore option (no waiting for two weeks)...

    Cheers again:D
