I have to agree that the OP is getting a little defensive.
Anyway, all I would say is that
1) I wouldnt buy a TV without great reviews. No bad reviews maybe, but no good ones eitherId only buy anything that has a great review.
2) This is not a grabbit bargain if you can buy the same TV elsewhere for the same money.. so why the rush.
That said, most people are very naive when it comes to TV etc and will think that any new plasma looks great... in which case they may as well go for the cheapest.Be nice0 -

Only because everyone was piling in with ill informed responses...about resolution, screen burn, questioning the quality blah blah.
Why the rush?
Well when I posted, to my knowledge the screen was waaaaay cheaper than anywhere else (with the secret URL). Now there are two retailers at this reduced price, so you could say it's not a grabbit anymore...except I think it is cos it certainly won't last! It's still is £1299.99 inc VAT http://www.digiuk.com/productdetail.asp?id=7130&c=20060714171256007198&g=&m=&ob=&d=1&pg=1&mf=&mn=0&mx=20000&k2=&f1=&f2=&f3=&f4=&f5=&f6=&f=&t=1&ms=&k=pq42-1&s=0>= which was the only other retailer I knew about in the UK selling this model (apart from the Fujitsu-Siemens online shop where it is still £1361 http://consumer.fujitsu-siemens-shop.co.uk/cmcPage.asp?idPage=558&mscssid=%7BCBD501A0-66E1-4E7D-83C7-3111851020A8%7D&referer=../cmcPage.asp%3FidPage%3D5560 -
Fair points.
I definitely wouldnt want to risk £800+ on a TV without reviews etc though. As you say yourself, you need to do a lot of research when paying out that kind of cash, so what is a slow decision for you may be impulse to others.
Before I bought it I would ask myself this 1 question..
If the TV was not so cheap, would it have figured on your shortlist of preferred Plasma's ???
If the answer is no, I wouldnt go for it.
Thats my thinking anyway.
Have a great weekendBe nice0 -

But that must flush out the question ...*How* do you draw up a shortlist?
well, I go on specification first, then price coupled with user reviews/recommendations.
Specification is tops...as is the price.....but there were no user reviews so I took a punt working on the basis that I could send it back within 7 days (albeit costing a bit for the courier!).
I'm not sending it back.0 -

Well, it's now back up to £950. Congratulations to those of you who managed to Grabbit at the reduced price.::Quidco.com - £1100 in 11 months. Kerr-ching! ::0

gromituk wrote:Except that it's not. I've already pointed out that there aren't enough bits to avoid noisy blacks, and the panel resolution means very little if the electronics driving it aren't up to it. It's the same as megapixels for cameras and MHz for PCs.
& I'm pointing out as an actual real world owner that the blacks aren't noisy! I think you are getting muddled up with screens that are costing three times as much - you're on the wrong forum.Fogg1969 wrote:Well, it's now back up to £950. ???? It's still a grabbit here (secret URL)...

Sorry... It's now on AVforums bargain board too. Somebody there said it had gone up again, and I didn't realise they'd posted the regular link rather than the discounted one.::Quidco.com - £1100 in 11 months. Kerr-ching! ::0

I dont find it suprising that the only posts in the AVForums thread are coming from non-senior members.
That said, if you were truly serious about AV you wouldnt be buying this probably.
Most people on here may well be happy with it thoBe nice0
