And for surround sound, do you sit on a swivel chair and spin around?0

gromituk wrote:If the Rolls was £900 more than the Mini, then I'd say the Rolls would be the moneysaving bargain, wouldn't you?
While the set offered in the thread might not be enough to make the A/V geek squad have to change their underwear, it is obviously fantastic value when compared to manufacturers website price of £1350.00+, and thus a true bargain, without skimping on quality for the home user.
To make a comparison between a Rolls Royce and a Mini is both inacurate (as the set is not bottom of the range) and childish.0 -
cpjackso wrote:Just in case anyone is considering buying one - you might be interested to know that savastore.com has them for £888.28 inc VAT and delivery..
Hmmm, Savastore. I wouldn't go near that store even if it was half the price of anywhere else. Great prices but no after sales service whatsoever if anything goes wrong. Just google 'savastore reviews' to see how really bad this place is. A real bunch of cowboys. I had a TV from them which was Dead on Arrival. After 2 weeks of emails with no response, hours spent in telephone queues, only to get cut off I eventually spoke with a 'support' person who said and I quote "not my problem mate, try Panasonic" then he hung up!
You have been warned!0 -
Would've loved to have got it but £119.99 to Northeren Ireland is ridiculous for postage!!!0

Is that clear enough now?
By the way, I've never said that this set isn't a bargain, just in case you might have missed that in the confusion. All I'm saying is that the technology is not very mature, and you are likely to get a worse picture from this set than the one it's replacing.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
TBH , if the OP thinks this is a top brand… why didn’t he write the brand name in the title instead of “top brand”. Also, buying a cheap brand isn’t always moneysaving. If you buy a Panny etc you can sell it 2nd hand at an AV forum for a lot more money than this brand. Net result is that either brand may cost you the same amount for 2 years viewing.
Its like (another car comparison) people who buy a Kia instead of a decent make because its £12k instead of £18k. After 1 year, the Kia (with its free insurance) only has a trade in of £6k, and you have lost just as much money in a year so it didn’t really save you anything. At least with a decent brand you can be happy that you had your number 1 pick whilst gaining the same depreciation.
However, in this case most people on here just want a new TV and will believe its got a great picture, the same as all the people who buy cheap digital cameras from rubbish makes. They think it is great, because they havent seen betterBut as long as they are happy there isn’t a problem is there.
At the end of the day we can all only advise to the best of our ability. Its not aimed at an argument. You will always get people who think that its better to pay a bit more for a decent make, and others who think its better to save as much as possible.
I am in the category of.. “you watch it for hours every day, every week, every year”.. so why not treat yourself to an extra 20% of the price and get a really good set.
Others would prefer to save 20% and have a worse picture. But if that is the case why not buy a TV for £300?
You could always wait 1 year, and the Panasonic etc that is currently 20% more than the Fujitsu will now be cheaper, and you will have a better set tooBe nice0 -
The original poster (that'll be me) in the subject title was trying to differentiate this Plasma from the usual PAP (Tevion, Orion, Top Picture, Winkee Wonkee...insert your own Korean brand at will...blah, blah) we see posted on here as bargains.
Cheap does not mean bargain. A bargain (to me) means something signficantly cheaper than the norm (for equivalvent quality/features)...this Plasma fits my definition.
Now to the contentious use of "top brand"
As I say - define top brand....it goes further than a name (it's the whole gammut...specification, design, quality of build, components used, quality of software/firmware, MTBF, after sales support) I'd argue that FJS is a top brand in it's specialist field (IT products)...& the similarities with Plasma displays are erhm - similar?! It certainly ticks all the boxes that can be confirmed (quality of build, design, after sales support). If Mercedes started making motorbikes, you wouldn't suggest that their output would be pants, so why be so pedantic about FJS not being a top brand?
Oh I know...cos you overpaid for your model! Shame that.0 -
Is it a bargain - yes
Is it a top brand - no
Much as I appreciate the OP bringing it to our attention in the first place, their subsequent conduct hasn't been too impressive, some might even say immature. Now I wonder why they were banned from that other forum...Thanks to all who post constructively.
Have an A1 day!0 -
I am not arguing over whether it is "top brand". All I am saying is that, if it is top brand, why dont you just put the brand name in the title?
£900 odd is a lot of money to spend on a lower brand, particularly one that you cant even see for yourself in a shop, or cant read a review of online.
No offence, but somebody saying "im impressed with the picture" doesnt mean much. I would want a decent review before I parted with my money.
That said, (going back to cars again) there are plenty of people who buy all sorts of rubbish Kia, Daewoo etc and believe that the car is of high quality.
Spec isnt everything. Do you think a 2litre daewoo performs the same as a 2 litre Honda or Subaru? Of course it doesnt.
The same goes for TV's unfortunately.
I am hoping it is a great set, and anybody who bought it is happyBut personally, I wouldnt take a very expensive chance on this.
Be nice0
