Also, AVForums will tell you EXACTLY what I have said on here. If any neutrals want to read the thread they are more than welcome to. The link is below. But to cut a long story short there are only about 2 people on there who have bought the TV.

Weird...that's not how I read it. For goodness sake, the TV has only just been released! (about 5 owners on there ...all very positive bar one 'neutral' who has admitted he hasn't had time to tweak or even view in normal conditions)... there are about another 5 or 6 others waiting (stock availability probs & delivery probs ....obviously cos they're inundated satisfying MSE'ers ;) )

Please just accept fair criticism Hank.

I will once I see it!

And if your post is such a bargain, where are all the people writing in to say thanks for the bargain?

    LOL....you're killing me!

Just cos they haven't pressed the thanks button(& 6 have already) doesn't mean I haven't been given an E-slap on the back! Read through the thread again & look at all the positives/thanks (skip the geeky posts)

FJS are major players in the IT (business) market...I'd say their main market is much more discerning than the average retail punter.

Are you the same BAZ from Hemscott Info Exchange? Your postings on there suck too!

So the average retail punter doesn't care as much for quality than the business user then? That must be why the majority of busines users I see that uses plasma panels, uses the panasonic PHD8's (tescos for eg) or hitachi or fujitsu.

Id agree, if your an average punter who doesn't care about having the best quality then this set is a bargain.

But, our main point, which amusingly you just plain ignore, is that whilst it may be a good price and has top spec, it isn't the same quality as a panasonic, fujitsu or other plasma panels. You also go on to ignore the fact that you can get a 42" panasonic PX60 for just over £1250, which is far from the extra £1000 you keep banging on about. Some Hitachi 42" sets can be had for the same price aswell.

FYI Ive never heard of Hemscott.

I'm hurt. Honest to god, I'm not anybody's alter ego.

The PQ42 seems to have launched 4 months ago at Cebit 2006, but if you have a search for 'Bericht plasma "fujitsu siemens"' on Google.de it brings up quite a few hits, but it's difficult trying to figure out which are the equivalent of Pricerunner or Ciao in Germany, and which are actual review sites (try it in English as well, it's a pain).

Reading throught the AV Forums thread in detail, there's three or four people who've got hold of one on there and all seem to be perfectly happy. Something from there that is a good thing to bear in mind - the box is the size of a battleship (can see why they wouldn't deliver to work), and heavy as all hell. Plus, the delivery company can be a pain going by what people're saying on there, I must've just got lucky with it being pretty pain free.

I am just leaving this thread.. the more we talk, the more it sits at the top of the forum and the more he gets to feel self-important.

Your last comment ^^^^ just shows your disgregard for others comments, and a very ignorant attitude :(

Anything you say in reply will be ignored by me, and hopefully by others also.

I hope that anybody else who bought the set really enjoys it tho. I genuinely mean that :)

PS: MATT, I did think you may not be his alterego as you actually manage to say something constructive and with a degree of clarity :) But, I would definitely go with the views of more established members rather than the newbies who get the LCD and go "Wow"....

I never said it was a heap of junk...just that it is not the bargain that Hank suggested (ie, as good as a premium brand but a lot cheaper).
    Be nice

If Mercedes started making motorbikes, you wouldn't suggest that their output would be pants
You really cannot make that sort of sweeping generalisation. History is littered with instances of companies who specialise in one thing trying to break into another market and making a complete pig's ear of it. Some are astonishingly successful, of course, but that doesn't mean that any company, however big, will do it well.
Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.

Man you guys are slow on the uptake.

It's not whether they've made a pigs ear of it or not (that said, I have one in front of me - they haven't). When I used that phrase, the argument was that Fujitsu-Siemens *already* have a top brand name - by venturing into their relatively new field of Plasmas TVs, doesn't put them on the first rung of brand-dom...so my original statement "top brand" still stands.

To satisfy the (numerous) pedants on here, perhaps my subject title should have read...

"£813 for 42" High Definition Plasma - top brand but NOT in the field of Plasma Televisions!!!

....but it wouldn't have been anywhere near as snazzy & probably wouldn't have fit on a 17" monitor. Gotta dash there's a Program on the Discovery Channel called "Geeks - what drives them to post on non-geeky boards"....it's quite a short program.

    :rotfl:

You mean you cant think of a constructive reply to a valid point so instead you ignore the point made and try to post something funny instead.

I dont think we need to post anything else really, as it is plain for anyone to see that your ranting over something you have very little knowledge about. if people want to take recommendations from someone like that then go right ahead.
