    Sorry Adrian, haven't got Sky.

    Got to say, I'd agree on the point that not every venture into a new field's going to result in good products (even if from a good company), but FSC do have a good track record in IT hardware manufacture, an award winning reliability/support record, and this seems to have been a leaked employee purchase price (if it's down due to WEEE or whatever, it doesn't seem to be a general price that's meant to be available to anyone). Given all this, my experience with it, and the experience of the people on the AV Forums who have it as well, I'd say I'd recommend it. I'm not a big plasma geek, but I'm more than happy with the telly.

    PS: And the internet was always meant to browsed on a 42" display.

    MAttWPBS...for the record, what's your take on FSC's "brand" standing in general?

    Is it towards at the "top" end
    Mediocre/middling
    Or is total 'Tiny/Tevion'?

    I shouldn't even rise to such an overblown reaction, but let me explain again. The original poster was saying that we shouldn't even discuss top of the range things on here (despite describing this set as having a "top spec") because that's nothing to do with moneysaving. Hence the comparison between a Mini and a Rolls Royce.

    Is that clear enough now? :confused:
    I quite understand your comparison, but it's nonsense, no matter how many times and ways you say it. You are suggesting that the OP's set is the lowest spec available by comparing it to a Mini. I dare say there are many units on the market that are inferior to this one. So on a car comparison it might well be a Volkswagon or other mid-range vehicle.

    Then the matter of £900.00 difference between a Rolls Royce and a Mini, this was what I found childish, I'm sure you know full well why such an arguement is flawed.

    By the way, I've never said that this set isn't a bargain, just in case you might have missed that in the confusion.

    Smashed...bye. It's been real.

    "Geeks - what drives them to post on non-geeky boards"....it's quite a short program.

    this ia a pure comedy thread ... i haven't had such a laff for ages.

    at the end of the day, people can google FJC and see if it constitutes a 'top-brand' and decide for themsleves.

    i think that the tv is a good deal, however, i am going for the Panny at a higher cost, because i want the comfort of a 5yr warranty that comes with buying form JL. And no, I WILL NOT be paying their price for it, but will be getting it price matched from the likes of

    http://www.empiredirect.co.uk/content/products/details/index~modelcode~PAN-TH42PX60CAB.htm
    empire direct.

    or

    prc direct.

    Thanks to the OP for letting people know that there is a 42" HD out there for a (relatively) low price. :beer:

    Made it clear above, FSC'd have a lot to lose by shipping a sub-standard product. 3rd largest hardware supplier in Europe, and a valuable business IT brand with a large emphasis on reliability and build quality. Imagine the damage if they shipped dodgy plasmas?

    Now stop trying to bait people.

    This was my point exactly (several posts ago) & there's no baiting my end (apart from a geek or two but they're fair game)

    Am I? First I've heard of it. Perhaps you are manipulating my fingers by remote control? :rolleyes:

    I've already clarified what I said. If you misunderstood it the first time then fine - that could be down to either of us, or both. But quite how you think you know what I meant better than I did myself, I cannot imagine! :rotfl:

    If the Rolls was £900 more than the Mini, then I'd say the Rolls would be the moneysaving bargain, wouldn't you? :rolleyes:
    Rolls = Panasonic plasma
    Mini = Fujitsu-Siemens plasma

    Thats the only way your analogy can make any sense in the context of this discussion.

    *sigh* I know it's difficult to withdraw gracefully when you dive in with all guns blazing, but perhaps you should look up the word "metaphor" and complete the following well known phrase or fable: "when you find yourself in a hole..." ;)

    The oddest thing is that we're not even disagreeing on the principle: I share your view that this set is certainly far from the nastiest one out there. So why persist in making such a meal out of a misunderstanding arising from what I said, when I have clarified what I meant by it? Cheerio.
