People can decide themselves whether FJS is what they're looking for when they read the thread. The first post (and everythign you need to know) would only take you a few seconds to read so what does it matter.
I would consider FJS one of the top-brands (just because they're not well known here means nothing) so therefore, to SOME people, the title is spot on.
smashed 'it wastes a lot of peoples time' ... do you hear yourself? TO READ ONE THREAD WASTES PEOPLES TIME? well if they haven't got that time to waste maybe they should get off MSE when they should be working.0 -

Last time I looked my Plasma wasn't constructed from pistons, overhead cams & gearboxes...but actually electronic components which is what Fujitsu-Siemens specialize in....& their foray into Plasma looks to be an instant hit.0 -
Yep, as I previously said.. its interesting how a global company (x2) can develop a top of the range TV, with £millions of research, and then decide to only make a few, fob them off to Nice PC and Savastore.
Can just imagine the convo now...
MD: Shall we send it off for a test at the AV Mags?.... naaa
Shall we sell this via the major routes??... naa
Shall we chuck a few out to Savastore (the dodgiest AV company on the net, and if you dont believe me google the company / Watford electronics)... and Nice PC.?... yeeeaaaa
This will recoup all the money we invested into sticking together some components like we do with our PC's.
Instant hit indeed.. I have seen them all over Currys, Dixons, John Lewis... they just cant get enough...
apparently Sony shareholders are holding a crisis meeting ;o)Be nice0 -
how about since this is their first venture into the UK plasma market, their seeing how the punters react and what they think... that would also explain the price.
even companies like sony and your beloved Panasonic probably trial their new products with smaller companies before larger scale marketing... that way if the punters don't like it, they can limit how much their reputation is damaged.0 -
True Chris.. that they would.
I dont own ANYTHING panasonic, just use them as a decent brand at a fair price.
But any company worth its salt would get some marketing / advertising going via reviews etc, or at least sell at 1 recognised store.Be nice0 -
Can you give details of your cheap flights to New York please

Meeten,
Could I ask for some detail - I have just looked at J Lewis website and they said they will not price match Internet stores - they will price match noremal Uk stores...
Do you know something I dont?
Would appreciate clarification
Thanks you,
Potty
Potty,
'Do you know something I dont?'
Just something that I found out - the stores that I mentioned are primarily on the internet, but they have stores that you can physically go into. This them puts them in the arena at which JL will price match.
To quote form their website:
We do not apply our shops' 'Never Knowingly Undersold' pricing promise to our online and catalogue prices. This is because we are unable to verify the availability and comparability of the goods and the standards of service and support that are offered by other Internet and catalogue competitors. However, you can always be assured of the same dedication to competitive pricing and exceptional value you find in our department stores, where we remain of course 'Never Knowingly Undersold'.
I have seen this happen as my sister bought a Toshiba LCD ....

at empire direct, it is £1,050
http://www.johnlewis.com/Audio+and+TV/Televisions/++Shop+by+Screen+Type+/LCD+TV/230307098/Product.aspx
at JL the same item is £1,395
She called up the undersales team, and gave them the details (on Monday). They returned her call on Tuesday, stating that they have checked / verified the price (and it is in stock). She ordered her TV, and it will be delivered on Friday, and comes with the exccellent 5yr warranty.
considering empire direct charge an astounding £519 for a 4yr warranty extension, see here:

I think this is 'money saving'
This, however, does take this OT, so if you are wanting any more details, feel free to PM me...
HTH,
Meeten
PS - she is trying to get them to match the price of £1,023 which is available here:

This only goes to show how a little knowledge can be dangerous in the wrong hands.
Fujitsu Siemens and Nice PC advertised in the Times, the Mail, the Express and on TV for years. You must have seen their ads as part of DSG / Commet newpaper and TV marketing? Just because you think something Smasshed doesn't make it true. Not in the Dandy or Beano though.
Besides, Acer is the Number 1, yes NUMBER 1 for laptops in EMEA. They hover around 1,2 and 3 in the UK, just exactly how often over the last 3 years have you seen them on TV or in the paper? They just started with newpaper inserts recently.
So, sort of dispels your theory.
You dont own Panasonic but use them as a decent brand! You are what I like to call 'a perfectionist, but only with other peoples money'. How much did you pay for your Matsui 14"?.Many people have knowledge, only the wise know how to apply it. You must try to soar like an eagle, even when surrounded by turkies. (.Y.)0 -
Acer are sold in the DSG group for starters yes. Is this TV?
I have previously said what TV I opted for. And you are 100% incorrect. We are having this argument because I DIDN’T want people rushing out and spending £800-900 on a TV that was being misrepresented on here. I DO care about people losing money, which is why I don’t mind losing some friends on here, because even if I have made 1 person research further before purchasing, then I have done a good job.
I get called a geek by Hank, and then you say I would have a 14” Matsui? I think you just showed how unreliable your judgement is. Sorry
PS: I was talking marketing the product, not marketing the company.Be nice0
