Great thread am thoroughly enjoying getting cheap beauty ideas
My cheapy ideas:
1/ Virgin coconut oil(sold in healthfood shops) cost me about £3-4 for a 500g jar that has lasted 2 years and doesn't go off till August.
I use it to take my make up off makes my eyelashes and eye area amazing.
Body moisturiser
Bath oil
Hair deep conditioning treatment.
It smells ok but is deeply nourishing and is ace at removing the toughest of make up but is sooo gentle.
2/ Dove cream beauty bath.....i love this stuff it smells like the orignal dove perfume. It is thick and creamy and makes a bath luxurious but the smell lasts for hours on your skin and makes you lovely and soft. Also doubles as a handwash or a shower gel(well i use it for that lol) I got a few bottle for £1.20 half price so was great value.
3/Nivea cashmere moments shower gel.....wow this stuff is soft skin in a bottle, and it smells gorgeous too, usually costs about £1-2 a bottle.
4/Johnsons baby moisturising cream(100ml tube) this stuff smells very mild but it thick and absorbs quickly into skin, i buy from b&m or wilkinsons for about £1 so it's great value, i use on face(only cream that hasn't given me spots)foot moisturiser, hand cream, body cream,aftersun......it is so mild and gentle and so easliy absorbed it makes a great all round product.
5/ Avon footworks range price depends on brochure but they are usually on offer for half price or 3 for £5 etc.
There is a lot in the range now but i like the foot roll on, it cools, soothes and makes legs and tired feet feel fab. The sprays are good for deoderising, moisturisers do the job too.Smells mildly minty but feels lovely.
6/ Lush honey i washed the kids soap....i adore the smell of this soap, makes my skin soft and smells so delicate, only downside is it can be expensive for a chunk i usually pay£4-5 and it melts very quickly but it's oh so worth it for that delicious honey type smell.
Trying to think of more but alas my mind has gone blank lol0 -

I can recommend HIWTK solid perfume if you find the soap goes too quickly. Not quite sub £5, but it's only £5.10! I also cut chunks off the soap so it goes slower too.March win: Fair Squared organic spa skincare set

I am addicted to Lush! I am hoping the solid coconut oil will be a good alternative to Ultrabland. :T0

The solid stuff is so useful for holidays abroad as well - I don't have to cram it into that see-through bag !Normal people worry me.0

I have found Rimmel's Wear Maxx to have the most amazing staying power. As opposed to the three times as costly Revlon :mad:katyboo123 wrote: »Ive tried loads of nail varnishes and No 17 Lasting fix is by far the best coverage and colour range. £3.50 normally, or regularly 2 forra fiver...

I have been looking for a new eye makeup remover recently and I tried Boots own Fragrance Free Eye Make Up recommended on here but I didn't get on with it too well, too creamy for me (i gave it to my mum and she likes it). I normally use the Botanics one but I find it doesn't go too far and I have to buy a new one quite often.
So I bought the boots own cucumber gel eye make up remover and because I had run out of toner too I got the whole range (about £1.30 an item) - Cleanser, toner, eyemakeup remover, eye gel and moisturiser lotion and I love all of it!! My skin is pretty normal (not too dry, not too oily) and I have been using this every night for a week now and my skin is great, noticably plumper rather than going greasy. I have been massaging my face with the cleanser (which I wash off rather than remove with cotton wool as this pulls my skin less) and it looks so much better. In the morning I now just wash my face with my botanics pore refining foam (which I still love and stocked up on in poundland from the 'pure' range) and apply the superdrug natural radiance balm and my skin looks and feels lovely.
Thank you all so much for this great thread, I would never have thought to search out really cheap products as I thought that they wouldn't care for my skin as much. I now have a great and cheap skin care routine and I have really enjoyed the challenge of finding and testing cheaper products along the way!
I have also bough the superdrug coconut and almond shampoo and conditioner (99p each or two for £1.50 at the moment) and they have the added bonus of making my hair so smooth and shiney that putting serum etc just makes it greasy so I am saving on hair products now as they are not needed!0 -
sal22 - the superdrug coconut S&C sounds like a real bargain, I'll get some at the weekend.
I was in Primark and noticed they had makeup near the counter, I really needed a new eyeliner and noticed that they sold a pack of 2 (brown and black) plus a sharpener for £1! I thought it was worth it for a sharpener alone. I was planning on going to Boots but I thought I would try these out instead.
I can honestly say they are no differece to the Rimmel eyeliner I had been using and the sharpener was very good. Anyone else tried Primark makeup? (the colours looked a bit young for me). I am hoping that it is cruelty free but can't seem to find any information on the net about it.0 -
Can anybody recommend a couple of cheap replacements to my ususal expensive products?
The first is Kiehls Creme de Corps body lotion which is the only thing I've found that makes my skin look so good.
and secondly a good facial moisturiser to replace my usual Clarins Multi-Active cream? At £37 a pot I just can't bring myself to spend that much anymore! I have dry/sensitive skin and like a cream rather than a lotion.
Thanks all!0
