Can any of you out there help me overcome my Liz Earle Superbalm addiction for my nails and cucticles to something much more longer lasting and cheaper! I am determined not to buy anymore from Q*C.

Plus any good cheap mascaras recommendations that stay in place and don't migrate down my face by the end of the day now my favourite by Prescriptives have ended since the company closed.

I've tried really hard to overcome my beauty addiction and I'm determined to not give in to spending more when less will more than do!

I make my own lip balm and have taken to using this as a cuticle/nail balm too as I noticed my nails & skin really loved it.
Recipe: 1/2 tsp beeswax, 1/2 tsp shea butter & 1-2 tsp oil (I used olive oil but next time i'll use almond as it smells nicer). I added mandarin essential oil for the scent but it is ok without. You'd have to fork out for the wax & butter but it takes seconds to make (you need to melt the wax - i'm lazy and did it in the microwave) and per pot of balm is just pennies. Bargain! Superbalm is a similar mix of waxes, oils and essential oils (waxes -beeswax, candelilla, carnauba. Oils- avacado, hazelnut, vit e. Shea butter & essential oils)

I have fallen in love with Anatomicals 'The Sleek Shall Inherit The Earth' conditioner, it smells gorgeous and leaves my hair really soft and shiny. It's about £2/£2.50 for 250 ml.

I can see it contains shea butter.
In this thread you will find good advice about buying pure shea butter, which you can also mix with other butters/oils:

sal22 - the superdrug coconut S&C sounds like a real bargain, I'll get some at the weekend.

I was in Primark and noticed they had makeup near the counter, I really needed a new eyeliner and noticed that they sold a pack of 2 (brown and black) plus a sharpener for £1! I thought it was worth it for a sharpener alone. I was planning on going to Boots but I thought I would try these out instead.

I can honestly say they are no differece to the Rimmel eyeliner I had been using and the sharpener was very good. Anyone else tried Primark makeup? (the colours looked a bit young for me). I am hoping that it is cruelty free but can't seem to find any information on the net about it.

    Hi!
I discovered Primark's make up this week! I got 2 different mascaras, the one that looks like a toothpaste tube (lol) and another one called "9 and 1/2 winks". I really really like both!!! It's a revelation for me as I'm a bit of a mascara addict..lol The first one tends to run a little bit under my eye, but makes my lashes very thick and really does curl them! It's actually kind of wierd to have that happen as I never tried curling mascara before! lol
The second one is also very good, very pigmented, and gives volume although not so much length.
Neither of them clumps, even after 2 coats (although you have to be careful to apply properly with the 1st one).
At £2 each, I think I have found my holy grail! :T

Edited to add that I also got their double ended eyeliner (one end is a creamy eyeliner stick and the other end is a smudging sponge). The eyeliner is VERY creamy and soft, lovely to apply but I don't like the smudge end as it's way too scratchy and rough for me.
All the above products are part of their new range (the one that looks a lot like Benefit's packaging)

I have just tried Jason's Lip's Be Healthier Lip Balm. I bought it at Julian Graves. It was £1.99 and is extremely similar to Body Shop's Cocoa Butter Lipcare stick, which is £4 when not on offer (£2.80 currently online).

If you're a fan of the BS stuff, it's definitely worth giving Julian Graves' a try. Extremely similar texture and flavour for a fraction of the price!

    Thanks :D

I had forgotten about shea butter, I had a tin from L'Occitane which lasted me 4 yrs on and off use

As won't be spending that amount from L'Occitane I'm going to see if they have some in the international shop

No, nor did I till i started using the No 7 Perfect and Protect serum. I thought it was all hype but now I am hooked. Can anybody tell me the name of the Aldi brand of serum that has recently been said to have similar effects, I cant keep forking out on P&P especially now it isnt 3 for 2 :(

its called Lacura, and is £3 something. have been using it for a couple of monthes now & it seems equally as good as p&p, i think it smells far nicer. i've also been using the eye gel for the same amount of time and am sure i can notice the differance(not just wishful thinking:o) and have today bought a tub of the Q10 night cream (will update when i start using it)
all 3 of these are well below a fiver so well worth a try

Not been here (or anywhere!) for ages, but glad to see the thread is still going!! Interesting to see that Ponds Cold Cream has a mention.... I need a cheap alternative to my much loved Liz Earle, and it seems the Ponds is a good one to try (will still be using the LE muslins that I have though!)
Ive got a Garnier Fresh moisturiser as a hopeful alternative to my LE moisturiser when that runs out.... may well try the toner too, as its often on offer at work :)
The only other discovery of late is that Tesco own Aloe Vera body lotion (currently only £1) is virtually the same as the Vaseline Intnsive Care one :)

    Catch you all later :)

I've got the Garnier Fresh toner. I've nearly used the whole bottle and I'm still not sure what I think of it! It hasn't done any harm, but I'm not really sure it's been much good either!!
