I'm still waiting for my kitten packs from whiskas, how long do they take to come?
My tip... ping pong balls! My two go crazy for them.
Try to discourage any nasty tricks like leg-climbing... unless you want them doing it on your bare legs! (Take it from me, you don't!)
Even though she's litter trained, don't let her stay too far away from the tray.
Duvets are very tempting to wee on...My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -

Aww photos please
I get my kitten in the first week of september when he will be 13 weeks and I can't wait.
I've bought three very large cat trees, the larger the better, you can get ceiling high ones. Lots of toys, please get a da bird, they are fab and the kitten will play for ages with it.
Water is better for them then the milk from whiskers, that is just more money for them because the kitten won't need it and water flushes out the system better.0 -
yeah i agree on the pictures front.
I would say toy wise my previous two cats loved feathers tied to a bit of string - mad thigns they were and the ping pong balls were always good althogh mind your feet if your walking around as many a time i had a ping pong ball land under my foot adn nearly ended up wearing my dinner.
We use to give biscuits and water to our cats with the odd pouch of whiskas. Also our cats use to love beaten up egg - was ment to be good for their fur and our two loved it.
They were chipped, fixed and loved to pieces (both strays abandoned in a carrier bag) and they made it to 14 and 12 respectively (the 12 yo had cat leukemia and the 14yo died of an old age stroke of some sort)
Well done again you on giving the little fluffy a home - whats the kitties name anyway??Time to find me again0 -
Kittens are hard work but immense fun and as mentioned they don't stay kittens for long
They can be trained and a firm 'NO' when they try to climb your bare legs followed by a 'lift' on your hand works wonders as they get what they wanted (you) without painful needles in your skin. After that mine used to shout and wait
My 2 kittens, Jarvis and Newton, grew to be my best companions. Jarv sadly succumbed to kidney probs at 12 and Newt has just given me the run around by going walkabout for the 1st time in 13 years (see recent thread) No real probs other than that.
Newt is lactose intolerant so milk is not on. Water seems fine and afterall, cats wouldn't get milk naturally anyway so it's no hardship to just get water.
Hope you get as much fun, love and entertainment from kitty as I have.

Hey
Congrats on kitten motherhood!
Milk- NOOOOOOOOO all cats are lactose intolerant and can cause diarrhoea
toys anything from pens to bits of paper to actual cat toys
scratching posts are excellent!
always keep the litter tray clean as if it dirty she will find somewhere else to go!
Fleas- if you have seen 1 flea there will be loads more- get her to the vet get them to try and age her and then get some flea stuff (if you dont want to pay vet prices the only one i would recommend is Frontline - used to be a vet only product but recently changed category)
get her to the vet and get vaccines and chip done, also take out insurance (most practices will give out 6 weeks free with PetPlan - best company by far)
if you take out other insurance pls read the small print as some places will put a maximum benefit on meaning once you reach a certain amount per condition they will not pay out more and some put a time limit on resulting in the same thing- you want a cover for life policy
If you have a hard time telling her off a water spray bottle is a great way of teaching them what is wrong my guys know and when i even pick the bottle up they run!
make sure she has lots of water available
food I would recommend (after speaking to a feline behaviourist recently) letting her graze all day on biscuits- there is less chance of her becomming overweight with this than meal feeding her.
any other questions just pm me0 -
When it comes to toys, mine really liked running through tunnels
I made these from the packaging supermarkets buy juice cartons in. The ones with the high cardboard sides or corners. Taping a few together created a maze which both me and the cats enjoyed immensely. (the cats running through em not me!) I used to dangle things at the entrancesIt was also great for getting them to know their names and come when called.
They also loved it when I made it 'snow' with the polystyrene packaging about 1-2 inches long. They loved to try catching it. OBVIOUSLY you tidy all away when you are not there. Makes a bit of mess but no hardship as you've laughed yourself silly and that's always good.
Basically, when you have a kitten you get carte blanche to be a nutter

I tell you what my kitty has had great fun playing with this evening, a newspaper. We left is lying around and his ripped it up, we've made a little tent and rolled up balls for him to chase.
He also used to have great fun chasing bubbles too, he's now playing with the plug chain in the bath and he's 3, not a kitten any more!£2 Coin Savers Club (Christmas)- £86£1 Jar (Christmas)- £29Christmas Vouchers Saved: £1450 -

That's ace! Your house sounds like fun
My litl angels kept up the kitten stuff 4 years, I think it's what they know when they're small keeps em young. Like us I supposeNewt will still play for a while with a pompom on a string. Mostly he just watches me playing with it though

boxes - my 2 boys loved boxes and would hide in them and then jump out and attack when you walked past and christmas trees, harry would climb up the middle and wait for someone to come near and then he would put his paw on your shoulder, would scare the whatits out of you and as for a treat i used to do a bit of outside catering and when we had fresh salmon i would bring home the scraps for them and they would tuck in :T
while i knit i think
