keep combing him for the time being, at least he likes it and will get him used to being groomed., startearly with the other new kitty too.
Ring the vet in the morning, I think young kittens need special flea stuff, will probably need worming as well (fleas and worms go together unfortuneately) you might also need to get something for the house as fleas breed in the carpets etc not on the cat0 -
defo think at 8 weeks, you should stick to taking her to the vets. Maybe expensive, but they'll give you the best stuff for her age!
Good luck, fleas are a pain in the butt xYou have to know what the problem is before you can solve it

Just looked it up on the boxes I have - and the Stronghold that I have says not to be used on animals under 6 weeks of age.
As this is (in my exhaustively tested experience - lol) the best of what is on the market I would think this would be the one your Vet would suggest.
Frontline (which imo is very poor compared not only to Stronghold but to cheaper versions in the shops) they need to be over 12 weeks according to the box.
Good luck!
P.S. We have 14 cats - and find that treating regularly with Stronghold (at 3 month intervals - not the closer one on the box) keeps us flea free."there are some persons in this World who, unable to give better proof of being wise, take a strange delight in showing what they think they have sagaciously read in mankind by uncharitable suspicions of them"(Herman Melville)0 -
I find Frontline pretty good, but yours may be too young for the spot-on, and you may have to buy a Frontline spray instead.0

frontline spray - can be used on kittens from 2 days old.
my cat just had 3 kittens and found the odd flea or two on them due to mammy. phoned vet and they advised the frontline spray.
i paid £18.36 in my vet but you can ask vet for a prescription and then proceed to buy from vetsuk online at a cheaper price.0 -
My boys were prescribed Stronghold for kittens - they were 8 weeks at the time.
They weren't really infested (I saw 3 fleas, 2 of which I caught) but after two treatments I haven't seen any more. Cost around £20 a packet, which worked out at £40 for two kittens, 3 monthly treatments each.
I think it also treats against earmites and has some inevitable protection against worms. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
Thanks everyone. Ive booked them both in today. Get them the full look over.0

When I picked up DD from school on Tuesday I ended up coming home with a kitten in need of a home. She'd been found and had been out all day. I brought her home (didn't even have a box  ) and said we'd home her if the owner couldn't be found.
Apparently the owner turned up later that day but doesn't want her backshe's beautiful.
I don't know how old she is or whether she's been immunised. I did find fleas on her late last night so ended up giving her a bath in baby shampoo and then coming through with the nit comb. I got 3 or 4 of them but can't see any flea dirt so don't think she can have had many.
I know I need to go through everything tonight and hoover thoroughly down the backs of everywhere.
I need to get her to a vet too, I'm seeing my friend later and will ask her recommendation.
She's fully litter trained so that's one hurdle out of the way!
She's only wanting 2 meals a day ATM- 1 full pouch whiskas kitten food morning and afternoon with a few biscuits sprinkled in.
Is there anything else I need to do for her? Does she need milk or is water enough? Hi Kaz
Sounds as if you are doing the right things. Get her MOTed by the vet, talk about spaying, parasites (she'll probably need worming as well) and immunisation. Get her insured to avoid big vet bills in the future and, most importantly, love her.
My boys are both intolerant of lactose so the only milk they have is Whiskas cat milk as a treat (not v MSE!). Day to day they only have water and they seem to be happy with that.
Good luck and welcome to the world of cat people

Awww congratulations on becoming a kitty mum!
Get her some toys, she'll probably become quite playful once she has settled in. Also, a little bed, an old flat pillow will do or a small blanket folded up.
When you take her to the vet, they might give her a kitten pack with biscuit samples in etc but do have her microchipped, normally there is a discount voucher in the kitten packs but I know cats protection also do cheap microchipping and spaying.
I would recommend a scratch post, eBay are excellent, I bought a second hand one for £8, my boys love it.
Keep her in the house until she's had all her jabs and been spayed so there's no unexpected suprises.
Lastly, take lots of photos of her, she won't be a kitten for long!
