    Bank: Halifax
    Amount Claimed: £4400
    Amount Paid: £3170
Detials: I was charged £5kish over a six year period. I asked for £4400 back which allowed for £4-50 for each item reflecting the 'true' cost. I said that I would settle for £3900 out of court. I had a call today offering £2500 which I turned down. They then increased their offer to £3170 which I have accepted. I'm not greedy!

  • I bank with Nat West and two weeks ago I sent them the standard letter requesting details of the past 6 years charges.

I received them in the post today and when I have looked through them, it looks like there is only about £70 charges.

However I have paid a lot of interest, this is because most of the times I went overdrawn, it was within my limit.

Is there any chance I can get some of this back? I know its a long shot

    Thanks
  • No, you can't claim back interest for being overdrawn.

    Hi!

No you can't claim interest. See the following link for a list of all charges you can and cannot claim:

  • well I am about to start helping a friend claim money back, he has paid charges each month for years. i have been reading the process and it seems to me most of the time people are now having to put claims in for court hearing rather than getting acceptable offers from the banks etc. All his is with the Abbey, has anyone else dealth with them over this, can you offer any advice specific to the abbey or can tell me how they normally deal with this?
    thanks

Delighted with the help so far from this website and even more delighted with my offer from hsbc on my bank charges.

This has now given me a kick up the backside to sort out my credit card charges with barclaycard, capital one and citi card so a couple of questions......

    1. Do i send the same template letter as with bank charges?

    2. Can i still try and include the £12 charges?

    3. Citi card let me pay half my balance and agreed to close my account. would i still be able to claim the ones from them?

Help would once again be much appreciated.
