iglimpse wrote::mad: I am helping my sister to reclaim charges from Abbey (back to 2002). I applied using the template letter but what I got back was useless. Lists and lists of spends but no info on the charges incurred, or the balances. I don't want to let that deter me... Is this their usual ploy?
We have already opened a new account, so that one is dormant for now:cool:
Clearly I need to write back and reiterate that it is the charges info I want, unless you can suggest anything else
I am just about to start this process with the Abbey. How did you get on with them?

Bank: Natwest
Amount Claimed: £272 plus interest (£353 in total)
Amount Paid: £272
Details: I was a bit nervous to do this as I'm currently overdrawn. I sent the letter by recorded mail on the 29th January, received a letter few weeks later offering me £272 as a 'goodwill gesture'. Money was in my account by 14th FebruaryDidn't even have to threaten court action.
I opened an another account with A&L just in case, A&L matched my overdraft limit, and it's 0% as compared to the 16% Natwest were charging me. Plus they gave me £25 just for opening the account through the 'refer a friend' offer.
So I'm now £300 better off...thanks Martin :j :j :j
Rolling Total £451,074.49Debt at LBM........ £11,433 (Nov 08)
Very slowly but surely...debt now at £7,324 (Apr 13):j0 -
Hi All
I am in the process of reclaiming my bank charges. I hadn't realised how many there were. However, I am trying to find out if I can also reclaim the interest they also charged me for going overdrawn, as well as the fees. Does anyone know this? I can't see it in Martin's article. Hope you can help. Jon0 -

Hi!
No you can't claim interest. See the following link for a list of all charges you can and cannot claim:

Hi
I have just started to reclaim Bank Charges but need wee bit if help.
First I am with Bank of Ireland Northern Ireland, have opened another account with another bank. Sent off first letter requesting all charges, received reply that information will be provided.
Now have received numerous copies with Notified Fees, Notified Interest, Referral Items Fee(s), Statement Charge,Accept D/D charge, set up D/D charge, Stop Inst- Cheque, Stop Inst - DD.
What can I or not claim back as tried to do it on Calculator and totally lost
Would appreciate any help you can give.
Many Thanks.0 -
You need to read this post to see what you can and can't claim.
If you don't understand the abbreviations your bank uses phone them up and ask what they are for. You can't claim for normal overdraft interest, statement charges, set up charges.0 -
