  • We were at the cinema today, and I had a look at the Etap, (right next door!) they let me see a room, and you're right they are a bit tight. It's in a good location though. The other place was the EuroHostel but it would be an 8 person room which is quite dear for the weekend, nearly £400. I'll ask at work this week if anyone has any ideas.

  • Just to add insult to injury my husband run for a bus today and slipped on a sandwich that someone had left on the pavement :laugh::laugh::laugh: and thinks he has broken something.

    :rotfl:

Thanks for taking the time to do that for me jackieglasgow :T
  • I have emailed a number of places - they are either too far away, too expensive or look like an old people's home lol

One of the best weekends of my life was in Scotland. Everyone was so friendly and hospitable.

I really admire Baabaachi's attitude: When life gives you lemons, make lemonade!

Baabaachi, I had what I hope is a stroke of genius (even if I say so myself!) Gumtree. Found this one to start you off http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/39/50831839.html

    or this http://glasgow.gumtree.com/glasgow/34/53815534.html
    and this http://www.glasgowcityflats.co.uk/apartments.html

I'll let you dig the rest out! I can't resist a search on Google!

Also found a company called Windsor flats, they have a couple, you'll need to email for info.

I've tried all those over the past few days - they are around £97 a night - where it advertises a low amount per week (£250) that's for 2 people.

I saw a lovely apartment but when I mentioned the area husband raised his eyebrows - Pollockshields - is it advisable to stay there (not wanting to offend anyone by the way )

Someone husband knows suggested Falkirk or Hamilton as a base
    Gah! No

Glasgow is an great city to spend time in, and there are loads of great places within a short distance - the West Coast, for example, is beautiful and can be accessed by bus, or renting a car. Loads of islands are close by, Loch Lomond is close enough to cycle to - I did it in 3 hours, and I'm not very fit.

Falkirk and Hamilton are OK but you wouldn't want to be on holiday in either of them.

Glasgow is also a pretty child friendly place, with loads of nice cafes and places that are always full of families.

Horrible story about the flights, but I'm pretty sure you'll have a good time in Glasgow - just hope it doesn't rain the whole week.

Neither of us drive and for some reason all 3 of my kids have never learned how to ride bikes (how embarrasing is that!!!) both me and husband can cycle - perhaps we can get 1 of those Butlins cyles that 3 people could ride with the canopy over the top - anyone remember them in the 1970's?

He doesn't want the caravan park so I definitely need to find a Glasgow based apartment.

Just found this thread, thank goodness you decided against Wemyss Bay - there's nothing there, except a fish and chip shop!!!!

Hee-hee, I'll house swap with you, if you pay for me to go to Malaga (joking!!)

Was going to suggest this: http://www.theweecampercompany.co.uk/ but then noticed neither of you drive.

Will have a think ... it's definitely an apartment or something like that you need, as a hotel would be much more expensive than your budget.
