Well then, try the Youth Hostel for the weekend? You can do lots of city stuff, then chill at the caravan (the is a swimming pool there). If you phone the youth hostel it might be cheaper than the website, as they'll quote you for a family room. There's also an Ibis hotel, and there's another hostel in the city centre overlooking the river, but I can't remember what it's called. I'm going into Glasgow tday or tomorrow so will check and let you know.
Here's what I found for the Ibis, it would need to be 2 rooms though, but it's in a good city centre location http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/reservation/multirates.jshtml
The cheapest for 2 rooms for 3 nights is only £129.60!!!It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0 -

Oops so it does, it says at the top the price will be applied to each room! Sorry. We've got nearly eight months, don't worry we'll find you something!!It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

If I was to say ideally what we would want (after chatting to the family) it would be an apartment between Glasgow and Edinburgh - 2 bedrooms sleeping 5 people (happy with a sofa bed, our 8 year old will kip on that), where we can easily get to public transport to visit various places.
Again, thanks everyone for helping out.xx.0 -
We went to Scotland for our main holiday in 2006 and booked self catering accommodation through Mackays Self Catering. We found the prices to be very reasonable for July/August so may be even better value for October.

Also we found loads to do for 2 weeks. Tesco Clubcard vouchers can get you into various family places in Glasgow and Edinburgh and the cities themselves are lovely just to walk around so I'm sure you'll fill a week, no problem.CC Debt at LBM Nov 08 - £25000+ DFD Dec 2012Second DFD May 2021Starting my MFW journey: Opening Balance: £138,000; July 2019: £135107.33; July 2024 £52974.602025 MFW #360
