Black cab probably a lot more. You could take the bus link from the airport to Paisley Gilmour St train station and a train to wemyss bay. Will check out the times in a mo. On current timetable looks very do-able by train, there are plenty of train from Gilmour st between 9 and 11 pm. So you should be okay on oct too.
Wemyss bay is in Inverclyde, the school children are only off the monday you are there. Largs is in North Ayrshire, and their holidays are the week before. Assuming you have a family railcard, there are lots of places accessible to you. Trains go up to Glasgow Central from Wemyss Bay. There are plenty of free places on interest within Glasgow. The science centre takes Tesco clubcard voucher tokens. Check out Tesco's site for what you can redeem them against.0 -
I have just phoned a black cab company - talked to a lovely lady - you are all so friendly in Glasgow - the fare is £600

I have also picked a different caravan and gone through to see how much it would cost to book online and I got a 6 bed caravan for £199 - so with the £60 taxi this comes to £259

Is this for 7 days from Friday 15 Oct? I also had a look at Parkdeans site and would suggest you go for the one at £219 as it has double glazing and central heating, a must in Scotland in Oct!
I did my first caravan holiday last year with Haven and loved it, my 2 year old thought it was an adventure and there were loads to do on site for free.0 -
I think you should call a private hire firm and ask if the can do a people carrier, it shouldn't be dearer for a people carrier and their fares are usually a bit cheaper that the Hackneys (not to offend and Hackney Drivers!). I'm sure you will like it there, we always have a lovely time, nice quiet and relaxing! And of course Glasgow's miles better! It's what is inside your head that matters in life - not what's outside your windowEvery worthwhile accomplishment, big or little, has its stages of drudgery and triumph; a beginning, a struggle and a victory. - Ghandi0

Husband has had a quick look while he was at work - he said he doesn't think there is a lot do there - he is originally from London so I suppose comparing the 2 there wouldn't seem like there is a lot going on. Will there be enough to do? It will be lovely to have a relaxing holiday but don't want the kids to be bored (dare I say that word lol).
Do you think we need a car or will be ok without?
Thanks everyone so far for all the help and support.xx.0 -
There will be another £9 Travelodge sale in due course.....0

glad you are looking at the funny side and well done you for doing so . Have you looked if there are any flights out of Glasgow just after you land . Just a thought p.s not east midlands (although i know of a empty house there . some fool should have been going to Malaga instead hes in Scotland.

lol got to see the funny side of it - it's so ridiculous.
Anyone for a house swop!!!
Thing is, nobody died, the money I spent I really can't afford to lose so am not going to just give up the flights and start again (work too hard for my money).
Flights out of Glasgow - mmm - never thought of that. Just checked them-far too much - and it would be a sin really to get to Glasgow only to go straight out again when there are so many nice things to explore.0
