I'm coming very close to the end of Ben Elton's Meltdown, will finish it tonight. Superb book, particularly as I've recently had my LBM, and there's a lot of that in there. If anyone can get their hands on a copy i'd really recommend it.
I managed to get 4 books in Waterstones yesterday with a gift voucher from my birthday - so i'm not counting that ( or is that cheating ). What do I read next? Only got about 80 to choose from!!
    LBM 27/12/14.
January Ebay and Amazon aim: £500. £22/£500 January weight loss aim 10lb. 0/10.
1 debt vs 100 days challenge £22/£500 by 7th April.
Nsd January aim 20. PAD starting 29/12/14 £2

They were birthday gifts, so they don't count: you couldn't make the giver not give you book vouchers, so they are a guilt-free splurge. ;) And you seem to have about the same number of books as me.
I just started 'The Gormengast Trilogy'. Hope it's as good as I hope it is!

I was alos given £50 of Amazon vouchers too! I'm trying to be very good and wait until i've read some reviews ad got a list of what I really want, rather than just going on a buying for the sake of it. Enjoy the trilogy.

I then started Ricky Tomlinson's autobiography, 'Ricky', which was unbelieveably good. Never mind all the showbiz bits, but his description of his two year stint in prison for protesting about pay and conditions in the buiding industry was quite literally amazing. I was so good I only went to sleep at 3 a.m. and probably would have finished it in one sitting if I hadn't had work at midday today. I just finished it, and it's flabergasting. He's had one hell of a life, and heralds my first, and probably only six star clap rating. :T :T :T :T :T :T

I loved this book too.... I still own it. It didn't go to the charity shop:D.

    I've read

    Homo Britannicus six claps :T:T:T:T:T:T

I gave up on Frankie Boyle's "My !!!!!! life" I was enjoying his childhood years but after that I found it boring and not very funny.

We are. I just got a bit over-enthusiatic with the last book and have started a trend!

Can we please go back to five claps and if we reeeeeeeally like a book then say 'if I could give this book a sixth star, I would'? ;)

    Hi all,

not been here for ages but have been reading the posts.
Just finished "Tatty" by Christine Dwyer Hickey, a small but amazing book, cant stop thinking about it! 5/5
    Books Ive read recently are:
"Divas dont knit" and "Needles and Pearls" by Gil McNeil, easy but enjoyable reads.
I've just started Last Train to Liguria also by Christine Dwyer Hickey.
I must confess I bought "The Importance of Being Seven" the latest in the Scotland Street series by Alexander McCall Smith. I adore his writing and have read more or all of his books. I have a ticket to hear him speak at the Edinburgh Book Festival on the 27th and I'm really looking forward to that. I'm spending the day there as his slot is at 1.00. What are the chances of me coming away from that without buying anything?:rotfl:
