  • Hi, I'm using the library much more lately. They have new titles on a 7 day loan and as I'm a quick reader I've made use of this. I read the new Jodi Picoult "House Rules".It's the first one of hers I've read and I really enjoyed it. Couldn't get through Peter Andre's new book in the week, but now reading a book about midwifery in the 1950's very interesting, due back Wednesday so will hae to read it quickly.

Meant to say earlier - I've not bought the books I've been reading, have been using the library. Brilliant!

I'm about halfway through the pile of books for one bit of my course at uni....think I've got Catherine and Daniel Deronda left to read...OK, so I'm 80% of the way through.
Then my next trick will be to read as many plays as is humanely possible. (Needed to buy all these books as they're uni and I might find them useful - and I've been enjoying them a LOT!) I am temped to check out the library once I've finished Daniel Deronda to see if there's any more Dickens in there, or George Eliot - now one of my fave writers.

I have, however, bought a few books (I read my uni ones during the day - I try and read a chapter a time when I have a ciggy break, I read different ones before bed) I think I've bought between 8-10 and I've read over half of them, just got two Terry Pratchetts to read (Unseen Academicals - was half price, and The Colour Of Magic/The Light Fantastic) Last Rituals (Yrsa Sigurdardottir - she's Swedish) and I need to read the end of Unholy Ghosts (Stacia Kane - it's a supernatural type book where there is no religion as people know the Truh as told to them by the Church and as seen by them - ghosts can walk on the Earth for two weeks called The Festival - and the Truth is the people finding out ghosts ARE real, and that they want to kill you) and Wolf Hall (just started it, it's about Thomas Cromwell and his rise from nowt to fame)

Haven't posted on here for a while, but have been reading the updates.

I am still plodding through my pile, but none of them are new releases so not worth reporting. Currently reading Anna Karenina, had forgotten how confusing Russian literature can get, different names depending on the relationships.

Have read, again, Pride and Prejudice, and have been trying for 3 months to read Northanger Abbey without success. Finally watched the film last week, so with that fresh in my mind may try again.

Thanks candyapple and jintyb for the report on Handle with care. I have also recently read nineteen minutes and really enjoyed it. I think Change of Heart has been the best one i've read so far. Ive just started reading This Bleeding City by Alex Peston. Different subject to what i'd normally buy, so see how I get on with it

I have less than 100 pages of Branson's autobiography to read, and am currently listening to 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'. Does listening to a book count?

Elfen - I've got Wolf Hall in my "to read " pile - are you enjoying it?

Also - Observer - thanks for the Jodi Picoult tip - it's now on my list!

:j:jFinally finished the World War I book, very informative but probably not one I'll be in a hurry to read again. Now a bit of light fiction to relax with - Sophie Kinsella's Twenties Girl.

Oooh, I've got that one to read too. I bought it on holiday from a little outlet that sells fire damaged stock for 1/4 of the RRP.

ooops, just admitted to buying another book :o

jintyb, it's pretty good so far. Not that far into it, but it is well written.

Finished Catherine today, so that's scratched off the list, and now I've got Daniel Deronda out to read.
