It's rare but I guess sometimes we just pick up the wrong book. And only spent £12 of my Waterstones voucher !
Pickle - The Secret. Be interested to hear what you think . I find it's written in a strange way. Maybe that's the subliminal (sp?) idea ?
I have "the Secret" - I've read it but I find that I "dip in and out" of it occasionally. For me I fiind it can get me out of negative thinking.
Just finished: Cant Wait to Get to Heaven - Fannie Flagg :T:T:T:T:T
I love her books.
A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian by Marina Lewycka:T:T:T:T:T
Brilliant, really enjoyed that!
(both from library, so no spends!)
Not sure what to start next, Ive got some goodies waiting for me to be collected at the libary!
you will always be rich enough to be generous.0 -

I have not bought any books since my pledge on this thread, and I only have another three books in the house that I haven't read :T, which i'll polish off this month.
I was at a networking event last night and I met a fascinating woman called Mary Turner Thomson, who wrote a book called 'The Bigamist: The True Story of a Husband's Ultimate Betrayal'. I'm desperate to read it, so i'm joining the library on Monday to get hold of it on the cheap.
I'm not sure about 'The Secret' either, I have read it a couple of times and found myself doing strange things like dreaming up the wierdest feather and then searching the streets to see if it would materialise. There's something odd about the book and I think it takes the positive thinking concept too far .....I learned that courage was not the absence of fear, but the triumph over it. The brave man is not he who does not feel afraid, but he who conquers that fear.0 -
Where I work they started a bookshelf for staff to borrow a book for 20 pence and money goes to charity. They have some super books donated by staff - hard and paperbacks and there is no time limit on returning them. Have read loads of books at 20p a time already, including some by Lynda La Plante, The Kite Runner, some Jodi Picoult, Kate Atkinson, Paul Theroux and still loads there to tempt me.0
