Finished Julie Walters' autobiography whilst on holiday and donated the book to the B&B. Some laugh aloud moments in it and wholly written by Julie Walters. Have made a start on Inkheart by Cornelia Funke and got 5 new books for my birthday. Lovely.0

Finished Coco Chanel - A Biography Thoroughly enjoyed it and it gets :T:T:T:T 4 claps.
Have started the autobiography of Jo Whiley which was also a gift from my DH. It's started well and I'm not thinking I'll have any trouble getting through this book.

Happy Reading
The Coco Chanel sounds really good, I'll put that on my list! Finished The Pirate's Daughter by Margaret Cezair Thompson - it was ok, the first 2/3rds really good then it faded away towards the end. Only :T:T from me! Ive started The Calligrapher's Daughter which was mentioned a by a kind poster on this thread. So far, so brilliant! Really enjoying it!
I may point out that all these have come fom the library, so no spend, but I must tackle my TBR pile soon. Trouble is, I keep seeing books I want to read and our library is great at ordering requests!

'tis funny 'cos this is not a book I would have bought for myself. I am not really into designer clothes at all and I don't generally like biographies - although I totally love "auto"biographies.
However, I'm so pleased my DH bought me this book as I had no idea of quite how Chanel changed women's clothes, and the impact that this must have had on women's lives is considerable. I'm also quite a keen genealogist and the beginning is very interesting. Also Coco lived into her late 80s, having been born circa 1883, and lived through so many interesting periods of history.Quite fascinating.
I'm enjoying Jo Whiley's book too which is totally different - near the end of this already, as did some reading in bed this morning:) Strangely, she has named her 4th child Coco!
Happy Reading:D0 -
Nothing much to report...just carrying on with 'Of Mice and Men', which is quite amusing given that it's one of the shortest books in history and I just don't have a lot of time. Please call me 'Pickle'

Pickle even I didn't take long reading Of Mice and Men!
It's very good though.
I've been avoiding this thread for a while but am now happy to report that I've finally finished The Subtle Knife! :T:T:T from me - I'd say it was a four-clap story but it loses a clap for non-engagement of the reader! Onto The Amber Spyglass now, I want to get it finished by the time I go to Italy on 8th May (ash cloud permitting!) as I want to take a skinny book on the plane with me. 38 chapters and 19 days = 2 chapters per day ... it's a big ask!
Also I have to confess to buying two books - The Secret History by Donna Tartt and Mansfield ParkSo my to read pile has gone up despite finishing my book
(It was for charity though).
Really want to read the Chanel book now too....Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

I found "Of Mice and Men" very descriptive at the beginning; so a bit difficult to get into...once it really gets going, however (ie when they reach the farm) it's un-put-downable....:)0 -

Alas, I was reading it on my lunch break so it had to get put down, but I think it will bite the dust as soon as I pick it back up.Please call me 'Pickle'
