Still reading 'The Lady of the Rivers' by Phillipa Gregory - found it a little slow in the middle - but I am enjoying it. 3/4 way through. No way would I want to be a lady at court during this period. Nor would I want to have ended up in the Tower.

I am a very lucky person...My Aunt and Uncle have just given me a very, very early birthday present - Jeffery Archer's latest book in hardback. The 5th book in the Barrington/ Clifton saga. I can't wait to get started on it.

Currently reading My Best Friends Girl by Dorothy Koomson and absolutely loving it.Cannot put it down!
Am already way behind on this years Goodreads challenge so using the holiday weekend to do some catching up.

I read the book last year and really enjoyed it to. Found I needed a box of tissues to go with it.

Went to about twelve charity shops today. Bought The Wideacre Trilogy by Phillipa Gregory for 99p a book.
Went back home had lunch and then whilst hubby was at football I read my book and had an afternoon sleep (what a rare luxury).

I'm almost at the end with Elisabeth is missing". What a fabulous debut novel, a thriller and a very moving story about an elderly lady with dementia. Can't recommend it highly enough!

    Morning all

    I've lapsed !

Realised I have not logged three !

    Have finished
    double deal by Jenny Pitman
Medival Woman - Henrietta layser ( very academic rather disappointing as although interesting was hard work and didn't flow)
A diary of an ordinary woman - Margaret Forster - would really reccomend this one, actually a novel taking a woman's life from the WW1 until Greenham Common !

Still not started the White Queen

Have nearly finished The Happiness Project Grechin Rub!n and I have a book club book for Friday The Minerturist !

I found this also but was worth pursuing... You had to have your wits about you in this period !

Sounds wonderful, Gem-gem:T. Just my kind of day:).

Have never been keen on historical books after finding Jean Plaidy hard-going many moons ago:o. Phillipa Gregory seems to be very well-recommended on here so might give her a try next time I see something by her in a CS. Any recommendation of a good one to try first please?

How funny, I was racking my brains last night to remember Jean Plaidy's name, I can definitely say Phillipa up is nothing like Ms Plaidy's, could never get on with her but currently starting from the beginning and now on The White Princess

The first Philippa Gregory book I read was the other Boleyn girl, I loved it and that got me looking for others by her, I've read quite a lot of hers now. Constant princess is about Catherine of Aragon - I think she's my favourite of Henry's wives he's should have stayed faithful to her.
Earthly pleasures and earthly joys were excellent but quite rude in places they have lots of gardening, and travel in them, the main character in those is John tradescant he was a gardener who then travelled to the Americas in search of the artefacts that now make up the ashmolean museum collection that was swindled from him by so called friends. He is apparently the man who introduced the horse chestnut tree to England - little bit of trivia for you.
The Wideacre series was brilliant but again lots of rudeness and some references to incest - the main character was quite wild! (That spans three books) Wideacre the favoured child and Meridon.
After watching the White queen on tv I read the red and white queens I've got lady of the rivers and the king makers daughter on my TBR piles.

Doing more knitting than reading at the mo as I've got a couple of things that NEED finishing off.
