I finished the Making Your Mind Up by Jill Mansell, wasn't one of her best ones, but it ended okay, so that's alright.
I was off work last week, so worked my way through one of my Classic Adventure books; Tales from Shakespeare by Charles & Mary Lamb. I didn't quite finish it to my deadline, but then again I was busy doing other things...
I've just started The Universe Versus Alex Woods, by Gavin Extence. Debut novel, which I collected from a charity shop. It's reading okay so far.
Over the holidays I finished my Goodreads challenge of 42 books this year, being 6 books ahead of schedule. I'm pleased about that as I was planning my wedding this year, so wasn't sure how realistic that was!
Over my Christmas break I'll be able to re-do my to-read list as the husband's books are now in contention and he has a lot of recent novels that I wouldn't mind reading.0 -
Me again ....
it's raining and I can't go outside to do the jobs I need to do....
Just joined goodreads, I hope it will help me organise my stacks rather than get new books, lol. Will let you know what my target is for next year.First they ignore you, then they ridicule you, then they fight you, and then you win - Gandhi0 -

Just finished My Dear I Wanted to tell you by Louisa Young - it was very good, story woven around the card that was sent from a casulty
clearing station in WW1 - 2 main characters male / female plus three others, fascinating as even though I've read a lot for this period I learnt a lot. Based in Flanders and a home....the devastating effect the war had :T:T:T:T:T
Now picked up Chris Evans 2nd autobiography - hopefully to make me smileAs a dear MSE friend says “keep plodding” or

I got hold of an advanced copy of this before it came out, loved it and then encouraged all my friends to buy it.
Finished 'The Great Perhaps' which I found quite interesting. Reminded me a lot of David Wallace's work.
Now on to 'The Last Girl' by...I can't remember. Another ARC and one I'm not really enjoying that much.

Thrifty pixie hAve you really got 846 books to read? I thought my collection of unread books was bad enough!
I have just finished my book by Kate Atkinson - Case Histories I would grade it 3/5. Enjoyed it but one that I want to keep. It is about a private detective Jackson Brodie, who is hired to solve old cases. He is an ex police officer. Two of the cases i found interesting - the third not so.
Going to read another Kate Atkinson book - when will there be good news. If I enjoy it more than the last one then I will see if I can get hold of the others - my cousin and aunt have read some of them too.2025 Fashion on a ration 0/66 coupons

Finished 'The Last Girl': not really impressed tbh. I didn't like how it kept referring to stuff from the previous novel in the series so you couldn't really enjoy it as a stand alone story. Now on to 'Germania' a book about the history of Germany. OH gave it to me to read as he enjoyed it and thought I would too. I must admit it is quite interesting so far!Emergency Fund - £8572.39 / £10,000 :: Mortgage OP 2025 - £LISA 24/25 - £3200 / £4000 :: NSD 2025 - 2 / 150 :: Books Read: 1 / 52 :: Decluttering - 4 / 1000Engaged 9th December 2010 :: Married 29th October 2015 :: Bought a House 13th January 20170

I have just finished listening to Dragonfly in Amber by Diana Gabaldon and it was FAB. It was the second in the Outlander series and I can't wait for the 3rd now. Next on my Audible list is The Warden by Anthony Trollope.
I am now reading Wild by Cheryl Strayed and am enjoying it very much. Now Mrs FrugalinShropshire:T Proud to be mortgage and debt free:j0 -

You've plenty more to go with the Outlander series. Book 8 is the latest so far and there are two more to come at least!Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
