hi, I was wondering whether I could join in with this challenge, though if it's okay I'm setting a time limit on it (till the end of 2014) just to begin with because it would take me absolutely ages to read all my unread books - years probably. So, just to "kid" myself into it (and to give myself time to develop the habit) I want to tell myself that I'll do it for this year and then see. It's much needed though, as I tend to add to my book collection at a horrendous rate - each book I read tends to lead to other books - I read a novel I like then want to read other books by the same author, plus their biography, or I read a non-fiction book and find it refers to other fascinating-sounding books, so I go and get those too. So, something has to give.0

Thanks mrs-moneypenny. Well I have to confess I did make a purchase earlier today - I bought an atlas, have wanted one for a while. I got it for £5.28 plus p&p from Amazon so the cost was not too bad at least. And that's the last book I will buy till the end of 2014, unless I get rid of some others *puts hand on heart*.0

I've bought 4 books last month. And I've only started one. So I'm guessing I won't buy any this month .. right?
Hope I'll survive to the temptation :")

No new books bought this month - hurray!!
BUT!! Payday today...had a spare 15mins before work...wandered into Watery-Stones....
Honestly wanted to buy a book!!!! Couldn't believe how strong the temptation was. Put it back on the shelf, felt a bit down, but feel so much better now!
Glad I didn't buy it. Who'dathunk I'd ever say that0 -
So I didn't buy any books in Feb! That is amazing going for me.
I did pick up a very cheap book fully intending to buy it but then realised I still had 53 unread books at home to get through first and put it back..0 -
hi all. Well I have decided to tackle the mountainous pile of books sitting next to my bed. The top six were books I've read already, I was just keeping them there because I feel attached to books just after finishing them and don't want to put them back on the shelf straight away. They had been there for a while though so I reshelved them. The first one I found in the pile that I hadn't read was "How to Deal with Adversity" by Christopher Hamilton - not that I am dealing with adversity - I picked it up at the work book sale because it looked interesting. So, I am kicking off with that.
I have been sorely tempted to buy two books on Amazon already today but have resisted. I'll look round for books I could potentially get rid of so I can get them though. But for the moment they're "wish list only".0 -
Haven't checked in on here in a while.
Finished all my midwifery/pregnancy/breast feeding books from the library that I needed to brush up on my knowledge for interview.
Not counting those as part of this challenge though, as they weren't part of my original list.
Anyway I have now started The Program. Picked it out randomly last night on my kindle as it's been a while since I read a kindle book. Got halfway through it and planning on reading some more of it tonight.0 -
Hi all xxx
Things to report!!
So, it's World Book Day (kind of like Christmas to us guys following this challenge!!) and today I went to the station to get my train and the bloke in the ticket office announced that Virgin trains were giving away free books!
I chose two new titles by new authors and both look pretty good.
Does mean I've had to change my signature and it's not looking so good now - I'm back to square 1! I've updated my list on pg 149.
Been mega busy with uni work all week so haven't had chance to read my current book. By Tuesday I'll have some free time so want to get stuck into it then!!2014 Frugal Living Challenge
#48 Crazy 2014 Clothes Challenge: £95.00/£100
Number of read books/unread books: 9/56
Number of new books bought in 2014: 1
Ain't nothin' goin' on but the rent0 -
