Finished the Johnny Marr biog yaaaaaay! Updated my signature AND my 'confessional' unread books post!!
So pleased to have read it. It's been sat on my shelf for years and now it's done, it's finished, can prob go on ebay and even make me some cash! Plus it's kickstarted my 'get a grip and just read the damn books' way of thinking.
So can forgive it being a rather dull read, full of inaccuracies and really nothing more than a straightforward narrative of his career. No emotional insights etc - plus the crucial Smiths court case only warranted a paragraph!
I guess after reading Moz's FAB Autobiography I was hoping for a different perspective. Ah well.
Am cautiously planning to see if I can read a book from each of the different 'categories' I've put my unread books in and see if I can work through them in that way. We'll see!
So, fiction next - going to read 'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan' by Lisa See. When I was sorting all my books out I came across this and was mortified - my friend had lent it to me ages ago. Let's get it read and given back!2014 Frugal Living Challenge

Can anyone tell me if I download books on my kindle if there is a way of it telling you the books you've already downloaded without looking in your library? Was thinking of downloading some free ones but as I have a memory like a sieve didn't want to try and download the same book twice.Did owe £9,951.96

If you try to buy it, it should say something like you already purchased this book on so and so date. Mines does anyway and I have the Kindle Fire HD.0 -
I started my friend's book on the bus home on Monday evening, I finished it last night after promising myself an early night and reading of a few pages. 2 and a half hours later, I was reading the last page. It was, in my slightly biased opinion, a great book. Just my kind of story with lots going on, plenty to keep you wondering and a few heart wrenching moments! I did shed a tear at one or 2 points. If I was being really picky, there were a couple of points where the tenses didn't quite seem to match up (though maybe that was just me!) but I must have enjoyed it as I stayed awake which is no mean feat for me at bedtime recently!!
Started the Second Form at Malory Towers today, just as a light read to take me to the weekend as bus reading (amazingly I've stayed awake on the bus the past couple of days...I nodded so far to sleep last Thursday I dropped my book on the floor!!)*2014 £365/365days - £52/£365* *20p Savers club #17 £12.00/£50*

Afternoon all, I've read The Prisoner of Zenda this week. It's a grown up version of The Prince and The Pauper. Quite enjoyable.
On to my second Mike Gayle - Mr Commitment - Going okay so far, his stuff seems to read easily and it's nice to read something from the bloke's point of view.
I'm travelling to see my friend in Durham tomorrow, so will take a number of books with me, so you'll find out how well I did next Sunday.0 -

Hi all xx
Quick thought: do people have more than one book 'on the go' at any one time?!
I can easily do this - one book by my bed and another downstairs/whilst on public transport (I don't drive)
At the moment I'm trying to read one book at a time whilst making my way through my unread pile.
However, I can see this will be impractical and some of my larger books may be better to read short episodes of (eg Wonders of the Solar System) rather to 'read continuously' if that makes sense?
Similarly, Grimms Fairy Tales may be another to just 'read one or two before bed' whilst having another 'proper' book on the go.
What do you guys think? Do you read one book at a time, or do you have many spinning plots in the air?!2014 Frugal Living Challenge

skintygerlinky, its whatever works for you, i can certainly see the logic in your multi book reading plan. i have a hardback eddie izzard biog that i started then put aside, its a big book so i cant carry it round but ive ended up completing at least 4 other books before getting back to that one. i think i could read short stories or factual books alongside fiction but if i had two fictions on the go i think i would end up merging stories in my headSPC~12 ot 124

At the moment I have 3 books on the go. My audiobook I listen to the car and at night in bed. Then my "research" book for my uni interview and my "for fun" book lol.0
