  • Yippee :-) I have finally finished LOTR fellowship of the Ring. I can honestly say it's not one I'll read again, and that it was much easier to follow when I listened to the audio book while reading! I just found it such tough going for the majority of the book! I will have to read the other 2 eventually but for now I shall focus on reading something easier. First off I'm finishing Treasure Island, then I'll read something more for pleasure than because it's one of those classics I should read!

So I have 54 unread books not including the one I started yesterday.

I just finished Jodi Picoult's The Storyteller which I loved and couldn't put down but was a little disappointed in the ending and just picked up Touch & Go by Lisa Gardner.

I love Jodi Picoult's books. I've read The Storyteller too. I wasn't quite sure what to make of the ending either, but the main bulk of the story was a brilliant read.

I really don't know how I've only just found this thread. I totally need to read the books I have before I buy anymore. I have boxes of books, about half of which I haven't read yet!

I am currently reading 'Wicked' by Gregory Maguire. I love the musical, and picked the book up in one of my many charity shop book buying sprees.

No new books bought in January - hurray! 11 more months to go :) !!

Am deep into the Morrissey autobiography and I'm loving every word! A brilliant book, really well written.
I've got a biog of his Smiths bandmate Johnny Marr sat on my shelf too - think I will finally get round to reading it after Morrissey, to maybe get a different perspective.

Good! That Johnny Marr book has sat there for approx. 3 years and I've felt guilty about it hahahaa!

Have a lovely weekend everyone and happy reading xx

I have finished Reading The Island House by Posie Graeme-Evans. I really enjoyed it even if the hairs on the back of my neck stood up a few times. I loved the way that the two parts threaded together. I see that she has written a trilogy set at the time of The War of the Roses, must check them out in the library catalogue.

Next up is Jo Nesbo The Redbreast, it is a library requested book so need to get on with it.

Pleased (well sort of) to report that no books purchased in the last few days:D/:(

I have cleaned one of the ovens this morning:eek: I think I need to reward myself with some reading time, tea and HM shortbread:D

  • Happy Sunday afternoon everyone, hope you've had a good week. :)

Happy to say that I am ahead of schedule on GoodReads with my 2014 reading challenge with 4 of 41 books read so far, having read Dance of Cloaks and The Prince and The Pauper (one of my Classic Adventure books).

Now on to My Legendary Girlfriend by Mike Gayle. This is a book I've taken from my fiance, which he's had since the late 90's!

Have a good week everyone and I'll be back on Sunday with a new update. :)

    Hello

    Can I join please.

I have got loads of books that I haven't read (including the Morrissey book for Christmas). I'm going to have to pluck up the courage to make a list.

I've got a couple of library books to get through first which are on their 3rd renewal (isn't it great that you can renew library books on line..or maybe not!)

My other reason is that I'm always saying to my kids that they should read this and that classic and now I'm having to confess that I haven't read half of the books I suggest. Now we have many of them, bought from charity shops etc for the kids when DS was doing A level English and I really need to read them myself.

I'll list the library books and my first 10 other books tomorrow.
This is just what I needed to get focussed!

  • franby - I finished the Morrissey autobiog last night and loved it!!

Lots of controversy in there of course (well, there would be - it's Moz!) but also found him to be humble and sweet. Have dug out loads of his back catalogue too - Strangeways Here We Come on as I type.

Going to read the Johnny Marr book next - it's an unauthorised biog but will let you all know how it goes.
