Hello everyone!
Well this week I have been able to finish Bones of Paris by Laurie R King. Read a lot quicker than Tombstone.
Started Dance of Cloaks by David Dalglish, this is going very well and I hope to have it finished by next weekend. It's about Thieves, Assassins and everything in between, reads well and the author creates the atmosphere of the book quite nicely.
Well done to those of you that have admitted your To Be Read numbers, now you know what you have to tackle. :T
Have a good week everyone.0 -
I'm currently reading 'Winter Of The World' by Ken Follett. A huge 900+ monster of a book. Just over half-way through and enjoying it.
I've got about 10 books unread at the moment, which isn't too bad. I'm pretty good at purging books after I've read them, as most get handed to my Mum, who has very similar tastes in books to me. She then charity shops them after she's read them.
I'm also pretty good at using the library as well, but earlier this month I had a Waterstones spending spree, so won't be going back to the library until these ones are read and passed on.Because it's fun to have money!

Hi All,
I'm new to this thread so hello there! xx
I've just sorted through my bookshelves and there's loads of fab unread books on there, from trashy to classic fiction, non-fiction covering all sorts of subjects and even oversized 'coffee table' type books. They all look great so I'm excited!
I'm currently doing a Masters degree and the last three months have been busy as I've had to do a lot of subject reading; this has eased off a little now so I'm focussing on reading for pleasure again! This is handy as I am so skint at the mo (as you can see by my name!) but love to read - so my backlog of books will keep me away from spending money!
Will post my personal 'unread' number when I've counted up - meantime I'm just starting Morrissey's biography which I've been dying to read from the minute it came out.2014 Frugal Living Challenge

I have finished winter in Madrid C J Sansom, cheated a little by speed reading a portion about 3/4 way through and then read the last 6 chapters, I really struggled with this one, I had wanted to know more about the period, but it just did not really gel for me. It's off to the charity shop today.
Finished and loved The Daughter of Time Josephine Tey, OH has just finished it today and enjoyed so it will fo back to the library today.
Reading and enjoying The Island House Posie Graeme-Evans, this was recommended to me by the librarian when I collected my requested Daughter of Time. Another story set in two different periods of time, but totally different characters and names, so having no difficulty in following it.
I have Jo Nesbo The Redbreast to read, somehow mistakenly thought this was the first in the Harry Hole series and requested it from the library:(The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
I've seen some titles in recent posts that I recognise
Winter of the World I read that on holiday a couple of years ago. I love having a big book to get into when I'm on my hols
Winter in Madrid. I remember enjoying it, but I struggle with anything set in the Spanish Civil War period. I can never work out what each side was fighting for!
Daughter of Time. Loved it. Richard III is my favourite king so this book was right up my street.
I'm pleased to report that I only downloaded three Kindle books in January. My biggest downfall had been the deal of the day. If it sounded quite good, I'd buy it. But this month I've been much more selective. I only buy today's deal if it's an author I know I really like, or something that is in a genre that I really like, such as historical, or 'time slip'
I'm currently reading Land Girls by Angela Huth, which I'm enjoying.Early retired - 18th December 2014

So pleased that it is not only me struggling with Spanish civil war!
An amusing incident regarding Winter in Madrid, having made a note of the order and the titles of the Jo Nesbo Harry Hole books, I decided to trawl all the charity shops (8) in search of them. Not a single one:( While we were pootling around I noticed a couple looking at the books in several of the shops, as we were nearing the end of our search OH said to me "that lady in the yellow jacket is looking for Winter in Madrid". I popped back and asked if she was local, she said here for a couple of days holiday, I have promised to drop my copy off at her hotel reception tomorrow. She was going to leave a donation in Oxfam books (where I spoke to her) and has promised to donate book back home in Kent when she has read it.:D

So I have 54 unread books not including the one I started yesterday.
I just finished Jodi Picoult's The Storyteller which I loved and couldn't put down but was a little disappointed in the ending and just picked up Touch & Go by Lisa Gardner.0 -
I've just finished Winter in Madrid too - I did enjoy it but it took me a while to get into it - something to do with C J Sansoms writing style! I'm just collected the latest Ian Rankin from the Library so I'm looking forward to reading that. Problem is all my Library reservations are turning up at once so I need to do some serious reading, and I'm getting nowhere with my "to read" and " to reread" backlogs! In this weather tho' its a wonderful excuse to curl up n the sofa and not go out!"All I ask is the chance to prove that money can't make me happy"
