Hi all,
I've just finished 'My Sh*t Life So Far' by Frankie Boyle.
It's intelligent, albeit pretty cynical, and fairly far removed from mainstream media thought. Just ignore the shock jokes and crudeness.
It's good to see that not everyone sings from the same hymn sheet: we need people like Boyle to remind us not to fall for vapid media hype once in a while.
I might leave this one on my bookshelf for a while instead of selling it: flicking though it at random intervals might not be a bad thing.
another one I couldn't get into - but i perservered (IIRC) and I think bits were good.
I have to say the Mock the Week books are fantastic and well worth a read for anyone who likes the show. (i've read "this years book" and "next years book" so far.)loves how my "I've been censored" signature has been censored. LOL. Happy Christmas. :xmastree:0 -

I've been on a bit of a roll the last couple of weeks
but have no idea what to read next! :undecided
I was thinking either Eragon, which has been on my shelf for about 2 years or the 3rd True Blood book (about the same!). There's also the 4th Vampire diaries book but I've not been able to decide and settle. Anybody read any of these and can recommend which to start with?No more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

Forgive me MSE board - it has been over 6 months since my last posting on the board and I need to confess - I have probably only bought about 6 new books in that time!! However don't ask about how many I have bought from the charity shops!!! My pile of books have deffo not gone down, and I have rediscovered the library
Just read Bernadette Strachan's Lose a Husband and Gain a Life, which I got for my birthday in the Summer, and am about to start Nicholas Sparks' Message in a Bottle - not ready any of his before, although seen a few of the films (but not this one!)
Am Challenging myself to get 6 books read and off my pile by Christmas (when I will probably gain a few more ;o)

I finished one of the ones my work colleague gave me this evening, and am plodding through 'Offshore' but just not finding it something I can pick up and read like I usually do. Also working back down the list of Kindle books - down to a mere 802 now....It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I've just read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks - I enjoyed it - very easy to read. That's the 1st one of his I've read so I'd be interested to know what his others are like.
I have watched Message in a bottle, which I didn't realise was a book until recently, and remember enjoying it so I hope the book is as goodNo more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

Just finished "Club Dead" (the 3rd True blood book) - enjoyed it but I can't believe how different the books are to the series! At least it makes the books fresh when I've already watched the series!
Started "The Replacement" by Brenna Yovanoff todayNo more buying books Books in 2016 = 20.

I think I have a Lynn Andrews book in my unread rile - think my Mum gave it to me after she'd read it. No idea which one it is. What is she like?
