:j :j FINALLY! :j :j
I FINALLY managed to finish Bad Science by Ben Goldacre. IT has only taken 10+ library renews and dogged determination, but I got there in the end.
It's certainly interesting and debunks many of the the myths behind many of the things you think you know, as well as introducing certain scientific principles and practices in a fair amount of depth. It's a pretty slow read, though, due to the detail. And hey, Dr. Goldacre, stop being so disparaging about Humanities graduates: if you want a better standard of science/health reporting, why not start tutoring some journalists on the side?/SIZE]Please call me 'Pickle'

Turned on the wireless on my Kindle again - added 112 ebooks to the to read list, have taken one of my goodreads books to work to read there as I might actually start making progress again there, so am aprt way through Clementa. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Ok - confession time. I was in a second hand book shop last weekend looking for a book for a birthday present for someone and ended up buying loads of books for myself! My only defence is that they are books by one of my favourite authors which aren't in print anymore, so I couldn't just leave them there!
But I promise that I won't buy any more from now on! I've got around 35 unread books to keep me going! I will not buy, I will not buy!
I've also read two fantastic books recently - Shadow of the Wind by Carlos Ruiz Zaf!n and Never Let Me Go by Kazuo Ishiguro. I'd highly recommend them.0 -
Tut, tut, cactuspotty!
I'm delighted to announce that I have just finished Bluebell Hollow by Bill Rogers.
At long last...I'm on a roll with the reading!
Now I just need to finish Atonement. Please call me 'Pickle'

Finished Clementa over the weekend and am about half way through The Red Queen. Need to choose another book to take to work with me tomorrow though. Slowly reducing the Kindle list too though I think we all know I'll never read everything on it!It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Well I finished A Faint Cold Fear a short time ago and have decided to read something else now. So been on the hunt in my own little bookshop :rotfl: and have narrowed the choices to You're Next by Gregg Hurwitz, Or She dies by Greg Hurwitz or Mo Hayder, Gone.
I am drawn to Gone but I haven't read any of the other Mo Hayder books and wonder whether they should be read in order ???Determined to do better0 -
I really enjoyed the first of the Larsson books. I have all three but needed to take a break for this month's book club book but will pick up the second one shortly.
I am also currently reading To Kill a Mockinbird and also popping into Chocolat every now and again.
Read John Connelly's first Charlie Parker book, Every Dead Thing and found it very good so I have been collecting the rest of that series from charity shops (and I purchased two from Amazon as they were the next ones in the series I needed).
Whilst on holiday recently I read a Maggie O'Farrell book that I loved, The Vanishing Act of Esme Lennox - I read it in a day and thoroughly enjoyed it - would recommend it to anyone.
Also read, A Dog at a Time, Saving the Dogs of Helmand, which is about a guy who starts taking in all of the waifs and strays in Helmand Province. As an animal lover it pulled at the heart strings quite a lot as I could completely see where he was coming from, but would imagine lots of his comrades thought he was nutsJust keep swimming!0 -
