Finished my Goodreads first read book earlier in the week 'The Childrens Crusade' found it quite confusing in places - not sure if thats because its the third in a trilogy and I've not seen the first two. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Hi all,
Have had a good week this week readwise, have managed to read two whole books!!
First was The Radleys by Matt Haig (who lives in my home town I found out from the blurb inside about him!). Really good, fun story - had a day out between starting and finishing it and was DYING to get home and get the children to bed so I could finish it! Not had that feeling about a book for a while now!
Second was "Memoirs of a Fruitcake" by Chris Evans (yes THAT one!) which I found surprisingly good too. He is very honest about the time he "lost it" - in every sense; money, ego, mind, alcohol - and how he got it all back together again (partly through fate and partly through shrewd decisions and hard thinking). Can't quite get over the part where, on leaving Scottish Media Group a guy from Goldman Sachs comes to see him and offers him a cheque for his shares to sever his ties with the employer totally - for £56 MILLION!!! ...........and he says no. A couple of years later the shares are worth a paltry (!...) £200,000. Not sure I'd ever actually get over that!
I have had some more 'incomings' as Mr Sessie has been working RIDICULOUS hours so we have some extra and he took me to the shop and said "Get some books for winter..."...I mean, how NICE of him... it would have been RUDE to refuse..... wouldn't it????
Have been away for a while, not got time to backread just now so.. has anyone read When God Was A Rabbit? I keep picking it up in the shop and NEARLY buying it and then putting it down again....
Take care everyone

Last night I finished The People Next Door (can't remember author). Was very Stephen King-y to start with but I wasn't that keen on the ending or how it came to it. Still, kept me out of trouble for a couple of days!!
If the children actually decide to go to sleep at any reasonable time tonight I will be starting "A Royal Duty" by Paul Burrell (Diana's alleged "Rock") which someone gave me a while ago. Will be interesting to read since so much has happened involving him since.
This may sound sad but I'm getting quite excited about the nights drawing in as it means much more time to sit on an evening curled up with a hot chocolate and a good book.
Happy reading all!!

I'm about half way through A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian, should have it finished before I go on holiday tomorrow and then will be working through the 760 kindle ebooks while I'm away. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

I've stopped reading my friend's book for now because my pesky editing is getting in the way, and I'm better off just having a session on the computer where he can just track the changes. On my train journeys to work I've now switched to On the Road. It's making me want to write a book and take a road trip!
Autumn always seems so romantic to me. It's my favourite season, and I definitely agree with the above post about curling up with a good book in the evenings. I just wish I had an open fire to read in front of!
I have that A History of Tractors in Ukrainian book..(one of my many Waterstones 3 for 2 purchases), so let me know how you get on.Not buying any more 1.)books 2.)toiletries, esp. LUSH! 3.)stationery, unless absolutely necessary!0 -

Hi Chicky and anyone else new
I'm still on with New moon at the moment but I'm doing quite well for me and enjoying reading it. I've seen the film so I know when some bits are coming and I quite like it like that and finding out the bits inbetween that I can't remember or are different to the film.
I have yet another confession though and bought two more books today. To be fair they were both cheap - Bought Essential poems for Britain by Daisy Goodwin (£1.99) mainly because I am eager to find some poems that I like and to expand my book reading from just fiction. Also bought Night Shift by Nora roberts (£2.00) mainly cause the front cover is nice and shiny - now thats really sad isn't it oops!! Not read any of her before but it looks big writing and should therefore hopefully be a quickish read. Gotta finish new moon first though.
Hope everyone is ok and getting through their books at a decent speed. Soon be yucky dark nights, but all the more time for reading (and other things too Chicky)
