I finally finished a book: it's the first one in ages! :D

So what was it? It was 'The Devil Rides Out' by Paul O'Grady.

It was a library lend, and good. It was only a relatively short section of his life, but it was certainly action-packed.

I wonder how many volumes it will take to cover his life? This was the second, and only covered as far as the early twenties.

Oh, and I have been a very naughty Pickle! :o I was in W H Smith yesterday and they had Notes on a Scandal and The Alchemist's Daughter for sale for £1 each. I've always wantes to read the first, and the second is all your fault, you lot *points around accusingly*, as I'd never even heard of it until you lot started chirruping on about it.

That's my story, and I'm sticking to it! :p

I also bought an anatomy book for £13.50, but that's for a college course and non-fiction, so I don't count that quite the same, and I got a 10% discount on it as it was a bit damaged. It should have been £30, so that's not bad at all.

I've read that too, and I quite enjoyed it but I thought the first installment was brilliant! I agree, it may take a few vloumes to cover his rich and varied life! - You never know, we may see POG the movie yet!:rotfl:

Now, Pickle, put that finger away:naughty:....I'd not heard of the Alchemist's Daughter, so now I fee duty bound to go and investigate!;)

Finished The Dress Circle, thoroughly enjoyed it and within minutesof me putting it on RISI I got a request for it! Swapped it for The Red Tent by Anita Diamant.
    Started Trespass by Rose Tremain.

    Hi everyone

I've been feeling a bit shy and lurking in the shadows reading this thread for ages, but am feeling braver today so am going to join in.

I have so many books in the house that recently getting rid of 150 to a local charity's upcoming summer fair hasn't really made a dent. I have a mix of fiction and non-fiction, lots of books on wildlife, and loads of photography and art books.

I haven't really been buying many recently, but seem to win a fair few and up till a couple of months ago was getting loads from Real Readers. My current addiction is books from Poundland - have managed to get some really good hardbacks from there over the past few weeks.

My problem isn't so much the amount I spend on books, more the amount of space they take up so am living with piles of books that I've had for years but never read.

I currently have some mobility problems after injuries to both knees last year so have been reading a lot as I can't get out and about easily. I like all sorts of books, but my particular favourte is crime fiction.

Currently reading The Legacy by Katherine Webb - only a couple of chapters in, and quite enjoying it, but it feels very similar to other books I've read before such as The House at Riverton by Kate Morton.

Welcome, SueMaggie! :hello: We are very friendly here: feel free to join in. It sounds like you will be here for a while if 150 books hasn't made a dint in your collection, so pull up a squishy chair and enjoy your books! :D

I started 'Notes on a Scandal' this afternoon, and I'm about a quarter of the way through. So far, it's really good: very accutely observed and biting. Must put it away now and do some college homework, as I've loads to do and not a long time to do it in. *Puts book away mournfully* If I get it out again before having completed 3 assignments, tell me off!

Ladies and gentlemen, this is a big moment.

There I was, in Tesco book section.

There IT was... the new Jodi Picoult... a veritable STEAL at £9.49.

    I WALKED AWAY!!

People, this is a HUGE turning point - of all the books I'd like at the moment, that is number One. And I walked away!!

Am going to do a car boot in the next couple of weeks with my mum and when I've got rid of some books, my "reward" will be the JP book with the proceeds of the car boot.

    *glows with pride*
