A bit off topic but where is the cheapest place to buy paperback fiction books (want the new Adele Parks). Postage is quite high on Amazon. Only a third way through copy I borrowed from library and unable to renew and has a dozen other people waiting for it. Thought I would try and get a cheap secondhand copy.

It depends. If it's brand new, brand new it might be quite expensive overall, but try the MSE megashopbot, Ebay, and Amazon marketplace in the first instance. Or see if somewhere like The Works has got it in at a bit of a discount.

    HTH. :)

Hmm I'm claiming a swop today, sold a book on greenmet over the weekend now I've finally brought some of the ones I had boxed up at Dad's house south, but I also got one through the post - A History of Tractors in Ukranian, which I appear to have won from the Radox monthly giveaway.

Lucky you! I loved "Tractors" - "Two Caravans" and "We are all made of glue" by the same author are also excellent!

I got a phone call from the library to tell me a book that I had ordered aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages ago had finally come in. I've read about a chapter, thus delaying me ending 'The 4 Hour Working Week'. I need to get a grip and stop procrastinating: I've hit the boring bit, and can't be that bothered (plus, I'm really busy at the minute).

Ohhhhh.... you know there's something you can put on your computer to stop you accessing gambling websites?? Well WWWHHHYYY isn't there one to stop me going to The Book People's website???

Just spent about an hour there (not buying, just looking - I PROMISE!) as my birthday is coming up. I can't think of anything else that I'd like aside from the two blueberry bushes that people have already agreed to get me so... methinks just asking people to contribute to what may be the biggest order TBP have ever had is in order!!

There are SO many collections on there (like sets rather than single books, although there are a good few of those too!) that are such great prices I just CAN'T pass them up.. and it doesn't count if they're presents yeah? I mean.. I'M not buying them.

*wonders how many different excuses she can use whilst remaining a part of this thread and UTTERLY acting against every principle of it's aim*

Those "Tractors" ones (set of 3 by the same author(ess)) are on there for £4.99 - I hear good things about them but.. don't really know their synopses? Can anyone put them in a nutshell without spoilering? ie; type of story, era they are set in - the titles do, I admit, put me off but I have seen a lot of people raving about them but very little about the actual content.

TIA for any help in getting me more boo-.. I mean, adding to my cultural expansion!!

    x :)

Hmm I was kinda hoping I'd read it and not like it so I'm not tempted to buy the others by the same author :rotfl: Still it'll be a good excuse to go use the library (registered and been in there twice since thanks to the Kindle).

Ummmm me again reporting another incoming book :o

I've been selected for one of the Good Reads giveaways. Must make sure to list the handful of books I have at home I want to get sold and aren't already listed in hope of selling one before it arrives....

I finished The Road Home by Rose Tremain and thoroughly enjoyed it. Started The Dress Circle by Laurie Graham. She is one of my very favourite authors. This is an earlier one and its really good - very funny and witty.
