I've just finished 'In the Red: The Diary of a Reformed Shopaholic' by Alexis Hall.

It was funny, had a valid point about overconsumption, and made me think of many of the Debt Free Diaries I have read - although I'm sure that she would have whittled her astronomical credit card bill down far more in the year if she had taken MSE Martin's advice! ;)

After being a book anorexic for a while, I've now turned into a book bulimic and seem to be getting though them in record time. :)

I daren't - most of it is trash I'll probably never read/never admit to reading - its rather shocking how many of the freebies are adult stories .

The only ones I might have paid for are a couple more Clive Cusslers which were 'pressies' from a friend who I now owe several pints of JD to as he's sent me pretty much all of the titles he's bought for both his Kindle and Sony.

Actually there are a few of the freebies I would recommend, next time I'm feeling brave enough to turn it back on I'll post the titles. although the one I'm reading on it at the moment -Paper Roses, Amanda Cabot - is OK it's not the strongest of plots but for a light easy read its not terrible, won't be in any hurry to look for the other two parts of the trilogy.

    Hi everyone,

Just had a quick look back and realised I haven't posted since the beginning of Feb  I blame it on needing to finished my Uni dissertation....... (and that I'm bad and can't resist keep buying books. I have to say some are bought with vouchers and therefore free to me, but I love my books and really shouldn't feel too guity about buying them. Should I?)

So how is everyone? I have read some posts but can't claim to have read them all. But I like the ideas you all give and do keep coming on even if I don't post :)

To redeem myself a little I have cleared out my book shelves in the last week and have just kept the books that are part of a series I am still buying and those not yet read. I have about 11 books not read at all and another 6 or so I have tried once and given up on but may still attempt when I'm in the right mood. But my weak spot at the moment is Lee Child and Karen Rose books. I love them and don't have much desire to read anything else so I keep buying these. I've even decided to read Lee Child in book order so I don't have a decision to make about which title I fancy most next.

Think I'm beyond help till I have all these

To be fair, it doesn't include non-fiction books (recipie books, it was decided a long time ago, do not count - I only bought 1 in any case), although I have bought one or two other non-fiction books as well. I'm going to keep trying not to buy non-fictions as well as fictions as the bookshelf doesn't really care what type of books I have, only that they are heavy, but some of the non-fictions have been necessary for studying etc., and some of them I really *needed* for other things, although they haven't been used as much as they should have been, so I will have to be good and not get carried away too much buying them (and use them now I've got them). All in all, I've only bought about half a dozen books (give or take a few) since the start of the challenge, so that's pretty good. :)

I do find the signature helps, though: I really like being able to write a new, bigger number there when I've finished a book.

I finished The Legacy by Katherine Webb over the weekend. It's about two sisters who inherit a big country house and how they discover the truth about two big family secrets - one from their childhood and one from an earlier generation. I found it quite slow to get going - it only really hit its stride about half-way through, but all in all I quite enjoyed it though it was similar to other things I've read. I'd give it a 3 out of 5.

Now have two books on the go -

another novel Amande's Bed by John Aberdein, about a little boy growing up in Aberdeen in the 1950s. I was brought up in NE Scotland so the dialogue in the book takes me right back.

non-fiction - Unless I'm Very Much Mistaken Murray Walker's autobiography which a friend gave me as a birthday present years ago as I was into F1 at the time.

Haven't bought any books since I joined the thread last week so feeling very virtuous, but if you could all see the piles of books in my living room, bedroom and spare room you definitely wouldn't agree!
