    Hi all,
I've been well behaved and managed not to buy any un-necessary books for months, and have also tackled my entire TBR pile. This month alone, I also managed to sell 13 books so far on www.greenmetropolis.com so the pile should soon really start to dwindle noticeably.

Wow, that's brilliant. Well done! :T

Just to let you know, I'm about to be a very bad girl: I'm going to buy Pratchett's 'I Shall Wear Midnight' and Stephen Fry's 'The Fry Chronicles'. I shouldn't, but I can't live without them, and they are the rype of books I will read over and over and over and over and...well, you get the idea. ;)

I've found the cheapest online versions, but I was given a 20% off voucher while in W H Smith's last week, which will make buying them instore this week cheaper that getting them online, so I will do that.

  • Well done Flickering Ember on your sales and Pickle on you bargain buys!

Pleased to report I've now finished A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers - only :T:T:T as although I loved the pidgin English at first, I struggled to warm to any of the characters. Am impressed with myself that I read it in only 12 days :D and I've manage to bring my number of unread down below the number of read (done this a few times but keep 'acquiring' more new books from somewhere :wall:)

Going on to The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society, and I know a lot of people have enjoyed it on here, so looking forward to it!

I've just finished 'Personal Development for Smart People' by Steve Pavlina. It has some really interesting theories. Some of it I really liked, some requires thinking about and I'm not sure about the odd other little bit, but we shall see.

I'm not sure what 'clap rating' to assign it as it's factual rather than fiction, but it was worth me reading.

  • Have finished reading 'Mini Shopaholic' by Sophie Kinsella. I read all the shopaholic books a few years ago and loved them, they were laugh out loud funny and I would devour each one in a few hours. Fast forward to Becky's latest adventures and yaaaaaaaaaawn!!!.

The same old story, Becky overspends, goofs up and everything magically falls into place in the final few pages. I don't know whether it's because I've now started to think a bit more 'mse' or whether it's just a sign of having had too many birthdays, but I found Becky boring, obnoxious and was just plain irritated when she gave her two yr old daughter an overdraft.

Needless to say the book sets up the scene for the next exciting installment.:T
  • Just finished 'The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas', very sad, but one I think should be read in schools.

Now reading Kate Long 'The Daughter Game', about 50 pages in and seems ok so far.
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
  • I finished reading The Snow Falcon by Stuart Harrison and really enjoyed it.

I've since read The Jane Austen Book Club by Karen Joy Fowler which was ok.

I've moved on to The Blind Assassin by Margaret Atwood and I'm absolutely loving it.
  • The Blind Assassin is one of my faves! Enjoy!

I'm getting on well with Guernsey Literary.... - I wasn't sure when I realised it was a collection of letters but it hasn't been too confusing so far and I'm really enjoying it :)

  • I made a bit of a dent in my unread list after 2 weeks on hols in the sunshine....

Gentlemen & Players by Joanne Harris (I'd give this one 10 claps if I was allowed, best book I have read and enjoyed in a long time)

A short history of tractors in Ukrainian by Marina Lewycka (odd title but a very enjoyable book)

Songs of the Humpback Whale by Jodi Picoult. I'm a huge fan of her books but didn't enjoy this one so much, it kept moving backwards and forwards in time confusing the hell out of me :rotfl:

Juliet, Naked by Nick Hornby - this one got good reviews on Richard and Judy's book club but I felt it only really got going near the end of the book.

I'm now on The Abortionist's Daughter by Elisabeth Hyde which I have had for ages and so far I'm enjoying it :)
