Well done Jinty! I know what you mean, once you get a tenner out it's gone immediately! But hang on, didn't we say that cookery books were reference books and as such didn't count? Oh yes we did!
I was about to remind you of that fact
I don't update on here very often, that's because I'm such a slow reader and never have anything to say!
Finished Dewey the Small-Town Library Cat who Touched the World this morning - it's not the most stunning piece of literature ever written but if you love books and cats it's an enjoyable read. And if you've ever had a characterful cat that lived into old age but is no longer with us, get the tissues ready for the last couple of chaptersI'll give it three claps - :T:T:T
I'm moving on to A Concise Chinese-English Dictionary for Lovers by Guo Xiaolu - I got this from RiSi recently and had been after it for ages so was pleased to get it for 'free', it's written as a Chinese person might speak pidgin English and I can't wait to get started.
'Read' books still don't outnumber the 'unread' as had another RiSi swap - got rid of an old book about fortune telling in exchange for The Little Stranger by Sarah Waters, which I've heard lots of good things about.
I'm hoping to get to the end of the year and have read at least one book per month (I know that's pitiful by most of your standards, but it took me to mid-July to read the Dark Materials Trilogy!) - I'm standing at 7 now, 5 to go and four months to do it!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -
this nearly made me crumble to.Not sure weather to give in and get it or have my sister buy it for my birthday next month.Althought a months along time
I'll let you know if it's any good when I've finished reading it, the only problem is that I spend so much time on here I barely have time to read anything!:)0 -

OMG it took me FOREVER to get through them. I don't know why. I could only read little bits at a time, and kept falling asleep.
Hmm...that's hardly a great recommendation for them, is it?Please call me 'Pickle'

some how a box of 10 books, was hidden under a pile of other boxes or has some how creeped in so now only 136 books to go .# 017 -Sealed Pot Challenge 8
A friendly look,a kindly smile, one good act and life's worthwhile
# 017 -Sealed Pot Challenge 7 = £636
# 382 -Sealed Pot Challenge 6 =£4720 -
I made the mistake of going in to tesco after work and picked up a book alongside the things I needed for breakfasts this weekend, still it was only £1 and it'll make me get through the book I'm reading at the moment which is very dry and hard going - which is strange as the author is generally quite good at bringing the military topics to life. It’s not worth doing something unless someone, somewhere, would much rather you weren’t doing it.

Hey all,
I have just spent the last few hours in town looking for various things for winter (I know, I know! I'm one of those early organised people!) like torches, winter medicines, blankets etc... and went into a good few charity shops. I resisted buying a SINGLE book - and let me say I saw a few I'd normally have bought!
Also went into WHSm1ths for a notebook and resisted the book offers THERE!
However, after a morning's shopping I did go into a coffee shop so I got a magazine to read while I sat with my coffee and scone, that had a free book that came with it (this month's SHE magazine, has new book by Freya North - Home Truths -with it). Does that count?!
