    I hope he finds an equally destructive way of getting back at her frankly.

    I think getting it on with other women was a pretty destructive thing for him to have done.

    They will take this very seriously...............right after they have solved all the murders, prevented all the domestic abuse, found all the people who abuse children and the elderly, got rid of all the drugs, terrorism and people who don't pick up dog muck.
    Oh....I'm not going to lie to you......At the end of the day, when alls said and done......do you know what I mean.........TIDY

    She has comitted a crime, she has breached the Computer Misuse Act.
    OP, if the victim does report this to the Police, you will be a witness for the prosecution, as your friend has admitted to you that she has committed this offence.

    er no - she hasnt actually, she hasnt accessed sensitive information covered by the DTA or FBI or CIA or MI5 or even MFI! and certainly hasnt financially gained from it!
    maninthestreet - you should read those crime novels more carefully!
    oh and you have to get caught first!
  • Unfortunately it is a crime and while I doubt (hope) the police will want to become involved he could still mount a civil action although any damages would be quite small. On the other by taking such action and suing his girlfriend the partner does risk the 'striesland effect' which will only draw more attention to his indiscretions.

    I'd possibly have sent her an email before deleting them saying I had several STI's..

    So, if she has had the good sense to hoof him on his rear.. has the other woman done the same yet? My KH was dumped 4 days after he left me lol

    Can we all have his email and password too? *giggle*

    And screwing around with several other women, who could possibly have god knows what thus putting his long term partners health at risk isn't at all destructive then???
    There's this place in me where your fingerprints still rest, your kisses still linger, and your whispers softly echo. It's the place where a part of you will forever be a part of me.

    Who cares if his ego has been hurt? He's lucky that the keyboard wasn't shoved up his backside as she threw him out.
    As for all the men whining about how it would be different if it was a man who had deleted the emails of a girlfriend , you are wrong.
    Emailing sexual messages to others when you are in a relationship is pathetic regardless of gender!
    It seems to be very "in" though.

    I'd say most certainly a crime under the computer misuse act. It carries a maximum sentence of 5 years...

    modification of computer material
    (1) A person is guilty of an offence if—
    (a) he does any act which causes an unauthorised modification of the contents of any computer; and
    (b) at the time when he does the act he has the requisite intent and the requisite knowledge.
    (2) For the purposes of subsection (1)(b) above the requisite intent is an intent to cause a modification of the contents of any computer and by so doing—
    (a) to impair the operation of any computer;
    (b) to prevent or hinder access to any program or data held in any computer; or
    (c) to impair the operation of any such program or the reliability of any such data.
    (3) The intent need not be directed at—
    (a) any particular computer;
    (b) any particular program or data or a program or data of any particular kind; or
    (c) any particular modification or a modification of any particular kind.
    (4) For the purposes of subsection (1)(b) above the requisite knowledge is knowledge that any modification he intends to cause is unauthorised.
    (5) It is immaterial for the purposes of this section whether an unauthorised modification or any intended effect of it of a kind mentioned in subsection (2) above is, or is intended to be, permanent or merely temporary.

    He got off lightly. The man that tried to sell his cheating wife on ebay was the funniest ever. I have a copy of the listing and questions (hilarious) but not sure if Im allowed to post on here......:)

  • I think it's just bravado; and spitting his dummy out now he's been found out. When he actually stops to think about it, and how stupid he will sound complaining that he was cheating on his girlfriend and she found out he will shut up. A lot of couples have each other's email passwords anyway, who's to say he didn't tell her the password, or had it written down somewhere?...... I found out my ex was chatting up women online when one of them messaged me through myspace because she suspected I was still with him (he said otherwise), then kindly sent me copies of all their correspondence. He didn't think about taking her to the police for sharing out private information!

    Or to me when I answered his phone (while he was passed out drunk), and reading the text after being hung up on that followed calling him a lying b*****d because he obviously had a girlfriend (me). If it wasn't for sharing/accessing that info, I might have still been with the ****. Eurgh. Doesn't bear thinking about!
    Do good deeds and you could raise the curtain, do good deeds and you could really raise your life....
