Thanks for the recipe CCP (which looks delicious :T) and the cooking instructions marie. ;)
Have realised that I don't know what ground elder looks like so will google it.
After a mammoth weeding session today I can't think that I don't have some - seem to have every sort going down the wildlife  end.

Not eating very well today. Didn't feel good so didn't cook my dinner and snacked instead. Deadly!

Well done to all those that did resist. :o

No probs on the cookie recipe, cheerfulness - I have very firmly put my copy away where I can't see it, in the hope of reducing temptation.

meanmarie - thanks for the info on ground elder. I love the idea of wild food but, living in the middle of a city, there's not much I can get my hands on. The main weed in my garden is campanula (bellflower) and I'm pretty certain you can't that (although I'll now have to go and double-check...)

I'm feeling a bit puzzled at the moment - I stepped on the scales this morning to see how I'm getting on and found that I'd put a little bit of weight back on. :( I know I've eaten a couple of things I shouldn't this week (cough-cookies-cough :o), but I didn't think I'd been that bad, so I checked again, this time with the scales 6 inches to the left of where I'd originally put them - and this time they showed I'd lost another kilo from last week. I know which patch of floor to put the scales on next time!

Anyway, I am hereby declaring that I am going to be scrupulously good today to try and make sure the lower figure is right when I do my 'official' weekly check tomorrow morning. I am going to have:

Breakfast - small bowl of porridge, made with half milk and half water (more because I'd run out of milk than for any other reason, but hey ;)), with stewed pears
    Snack - apple
Lunch - LO veggie sausage and veg bake from Wednesday evening; 2 mandarins
Dinner - pasta with spicy cherry tomato sauce (made without any oil), served with salad

And that's it - no high calorie stuff, no treats, no snacks except fruit. I will be good. I will be good. I will be good... :)
Back after a very long break!

Stood on the dreaded scales this morning and relieved and delighted to see a 6lb loss this month :j . This means you don't all have to give me a virtual kick up the b****m this morning. Now under 14st but still can't fit in the suit I wore to DD's wedding last September. I really must have piled it on over the winter. Good luck with your weigh ins CCP and Keiss

Not much to report today as all very quiet yesterday and stuck to plan. DH on holiday now till Tuesday so have a good Bank Holiday all and keep plodding on.

Thriftlady your blogs look fantastic, am looking forward to reading how you get on.

I forgot/ didn't have time to make lunch today so will be braving a sarnie shop to try and find something sustaining and low cal. I have a weird kfc craving so very glad there isn't one anywhere near.

I have managed to pack a box of veg sticks and crackers for my train journey later to help stop me eating the kids sweets and crisps so tis not all lost.

Oh any just a warning - cadburys new 'bar of plenty' is evil and shoudl be banned!

Well done on the 6lb loss, Suzi :T - and to get beneath a new stone mark! That always feels fantastic. :D

Nice to know that I'm not alone on the WI tomorrow, have CCP and Keiss for company. :)
I'm not expecting miracles this week as I know I've overeaten occasionally but it'll be interesting to see how the scales show that.

Food today: (which I will stick to, oh yes!)

    Readybrek (was yummy)
Open egg sarnie on seedy bread, cucumber, olives and peanuts
HM burger in HM bun with a little rice salad

Snacks - chocolate mousse :o, grapefruit, satsumas.

I will restock the fruit/veg tonight so I can liven up my menus for May.

Tomorrow I think I'll set my personal May challenge as I've a holiday coming up on 22nd and think that I need a bit of motivation. Will give it some thought and decide in the morning.
If anyone else fancies a 3 week challenge I'd enjoy the company. ;)

  • Hi CCP yes you can eat calendula (the petals have a peppery taste and are used in salads!) I'm growing some in my veg garden just for that purpose - they are good at keeping pests off of your veg and so are used as a companion plant.

One good thing about my diet is that the whole family have been having similar things to me and my youngest has decided he likes sweet potatoes and although he does need to loose some weight like most boys and teenagers doesnt think "diets" would help him (but I reckon hes lost some weight this week as hes been helping me in the garden also - so I've been a bit sneeky and just filled him up with lots of good stuff (veggies and salads!!) and if I can get him to cut down his cola I'm sure it will just drop off him!! (although he did ask how fattening a kebab was....!!!)
2010 has got to be better than the last two years!! :rotfl:

Weight loss to date: 3 Stone & 5lbs!! Weight loss this week: 2 lbs !!:j

The stuff in my garden is campanula, not calendula - it's got pretty blue flowers and I'd love it if it wasn't attempting to take over the whole garden - I seem to spend most of my time between April and October pulling it up by the handful so it doesn't smother everything else. :(

I'm interested to know what calendula tastes like, though - I've never dared try eating the flowers as I have a nasty skin allergy to them and hate to think what would happen if I ate any (swollen throat and straight to A&E is my guess!)

  • Still managing to eat pretty well - I've kind of started a new strategy where I've eaten a really good breakfast, a tiny lunch and a smallish dinner with no carbs. Funny thing is, I've kind of cut down on carbs all round (don't really believe in Atkins type diets so won't cut them out altogether) and the result is I've stopped craving sugary things....
It's probably the low GI combined with extra protein effect. I do think I have some kind of blood sugar 'sensitivity' as when I'm even a little bit hungry I become anxious and cranky!

Ah well, as it's Friday PigOut Day, todays menu doesn't reflect this cut down on carbs...:rotfl:

B: bubble & Squeak with bacon (to use up yesterdays leftovers)
L:Not hungry due to big breakfast...
D: HM pizza (very thin!!) with caramelised onions and feta
Snacks: cheese and fruit, maybe a few crackers. Caramel wafer, Wine (=fruit)

    Best of luck to all!

Urghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh not a good end to the week for me, went to the match last night and had 6 pints of Carlsberg Export which made a reappearance later on _pale__pale__pale__pale_ I don't normally drink lager so I can't cope with the volume of liquid in my stomach since I started eating small amounts

I now have a splitting headache :wall:and all I've eaten today is processed white carbs  Must remember i'm not 22 anymore!

Off out tonight with work colleagues for someones birthday but it will be an alcohol free night as I've opted to drive :rotfl:

    B: White toast & butter

L: White toasted muffin & butter

D: Not sure, going for italian so it will probably be white pasta with tomato-based sauce

    S: Scone and butter

I really shouldn't drink anymore, its very bad and makes me eat utter rubbish :D
