Welcome rachbc (from someone who's been here even less time than CCP :p)

CCP -Just as well I don't have the recipe immediately to hand as I've already had 2 cupcakes and an eccles which were definitely NOT part of my meal plan today.
(does that make you feel better about your torpedoes rach? ;) )

I love to read everyones menu plans and have only this week started looking into that bbcgoodfood website. What brilliant ideas on there!
The crusty fish thing was really good tonight, even DH enjoyed it :T and he's not into fish except from the chippy.

Thriftlady - if you do decide to begin a blog would you come back and let us have a link. I'd find it really interesting and I'm sure that frugal eating is bound to come into it if you're the author of it. :D

I weighed in this am and bit disappointed as not lost any, but no gain at least. I'm telling myself its water retention!!

WI yesterday and stayed the same again:mad:. But it's nobody's fault but my own!
I think I may have a mini-challenge this week - aiming to lose 2lbs by next Wednesday!

    Today's menu:

B: Cheerios and handful of pretzels:o
L: HM Chicken 'n Rice soup
D: Baked Salmon, veg and potatoes for DH and 2x DS
Snack (apart from Pretzels, fruit and a caramel bar)

I am also back in training for a 10K in July so hopefully will get out to run 3 days a week.

Just been looking at your normal blog Thriftlady - wow your pics are amazing and the one of the bumble bee blew me away! Shall enjoy reading that inbetween jobs today. :D

    Food today:

Weetabix (when I finally get hungry after the cupcake/eccles incident :o )
Cream cheese & cucumber on ryvita and some grapes
Liver, onions, mash, g beans, carrots & peas with gravy.

Snacks: glass of tropical fruit juice, carrot sticks, grapefruit & pot of mixed fruit.

I must get some more veg in as I'm pretty limited as home grown stuff from freezer has now gone. :(

I've been watching The Edible Garden on iplayer and am intrigued by Alys Fowlers idea of growning 'pea tops' as salad leaves. Sainsburys had them in for 99p a bag  so I think I might try growing them along with the other salad leaves ideas she had.
It all helps the pennies and will put more fresh veg on the plate within weeks. :j:D

Hope everyone is doing well. ;)

    morning!

cheerfulness - Frogga is still about, we text each other every week for some inspiration -

Genius - well done thats a great loss!:T

Rach - full fat milk can be watered down to make semi or skimmed, lots of people do it as a money saving thing to make their milk go further.

I'm on a weeks holiday from work and yesterday we had a day at the seaside so I'm expecting a gain tonight at weigh in but thats ok cos I was extra good last week knowing I wouldn't be this week:D

    B - shreddies. 1 ww toast

    L - jacket spud(small, cheese and salad)

D - small slice HM quiche(onion and mushroom) new pots and beans.

lots of fruit - apples and pears to eat up.

have a good day all x
    Do what you love :happyhear

Is he up for any cooking himself because I remember Jamie Oliver saying that he used to make little tin foil parcels up of a chicken breast or fish fillet with veg included and a little water and then seal it and write 20 mins on. His wife popped it in the oven and had a ready meal in mins.
These are great and I've done them with lots of different meat and veg; healthy, too.

Another thing my son likes is different tortilla fillings left so that he can make his own up with savoury rice salad.

You'll have to give us some ideas of the foods he likes. ;)

Hi Taplady - you snuck in there. :hello:

Genius - well done! 7lbs! :T:j You must be walking on air today. :D

  • Ahh thank you I am really chuffed - just didnt expect it thought about 1 or 2lb so was really surprised!!
My son likes most things teenagers like - roasts, spag bog, sausages, burgers, pizzas but unfortunately it always means me cooking two dinners as I cant eat burgers etc now. I've been looking on the menu planners for some ideas - definately try the tortillas.
