I have to confess I fell off the wagon a bit today - I tried having only a small salad for lunch and it didn't really work - within a couple of hours I was hungry again and ended up eating something I shouldn't (a colleague's unbelievably delicious oatmeal and raisin cookies - they've got fruit in, so they can't be that bad, right? ;)). At least I now know that I have to eat a decent size lunch if I don't want to end up eating naughty stuff later, which I suppose is a useful insight.

    Today I've had:

Breakfast - mini shredded wheats with stewed pears and semi-skimmed milk
Morning snack - a banana, and an oatmeal and raisin cookie (at this point I was having one because my colleague had made them especially for me and it would have been extremely rude to refuse to eat one after she'd gone to all that effort)
Lunch - small tuna and pepper salad; seeded muffin (bread type, not cake); handful wasabi peanut crackers; portion mixed dried fruit
Afternoon snack - another cookie :o
Dinner - rabbit chasseur, courgettes, jacket potato (with no butter after the cookie episode ;))

keiss - did you get your toe looked at today? How is it?
Back after a very long break!

Don't suppose she told you how to make those oatmeal and raisin cookies, did she CCP?

    Todays food was:

Cereal bar (lovely almondy one from mum)
Open cheese salad sandwich on seedy bread with olives & peanuts
Chicken breast in gravy with a few chips.

As f & v is looking a little thin on the ground today so far I think I'll have a pot of mixed fruit in juice (peaches/pears/pineapple) and a couple of satsumas this evening.

So do you still do little mini challenges on here (like 8lb by such and such date) or have they gone by the way side over time?

Went to MIU this morning and had the toe X-rayed. Was told off for not going to MIU/A&E either Friday or Saturday. They would have trapanned my toe (drilled a hole in the nail) to allow the bruised blood to escape...now it is all congealed and has caused my toe to be swollen and very sore.

They did X-ray my toe, and the tip may be broken, it looked like there was a fracture
, but they weren't sure . I have to go back tomorrow to see the consultant, There were no doctors there today. :(

I was told to soak my foot and squeeze it to see if there was any liquid blood that could come out of the side of the nail ...I did this and it was very, very sore (nothing came out!!)...felt rotten for the rest of the afternoon, dizzy and sick, not good .

So off to ice the foot again and lie down on the setee...may do some cross-stitching later if I feel up to it.

I have munched a bit today, but not much. Must make some SF jelly tonight, so I have something nice and low calorie to scoff tomorrow if/when I feel a bit down and fed-up.

We had some comfort food for tea...pasta and cheese sauce, yummmm, my favourite...DS2's too. We haven't had it for a while, so we all really enjoyed tucking in tonight.

Off to have that lie-down. I will let you know what the doc says tomorrow... not that they can do much for a broken toe anyway. I just know that it will take a bit of time to heal, that's all.

    Night, night everyone.

Keiss - ouch, poor you! I hope it heals quickly, whether it's broken or bruised or whatever.

cheerfulness - I asked for the recipe after the first bite of cookie (yes, they were that good! :D), and my colleague has promised to bring it in to work tomorrow. I'll pass it on when I get it. :)

Please can I join in - I lost a load of weight for my wedding 2 years ago but its piled back on in the last 6 months. I tried and failed at Guardian eatright so am going for a eat less of my normal foods and cut out unhealthy snacking approach. I've also recently changed jobs which meals a 30 min brisk walk each day to collect my dd from nursery so that can only help!

So far I've lot 6 of 26 pounds and tomorrow is my weigh in day.

I've had a bowl of puffed wheat for brekkie but we only had full fat milk in, have a yog and fruit lined up for when the 10 o'clock munchies strike, some of last nights leftover pilau for lunch. Hm pizza for tea - I'll pile mine with veggies rather than cheese and salami!

Thanks for your good wishes, was back at MIU this morning and will have to go back again!

The consultant confirmed that the toe is broken and wanted to get me fitted with an adjustable boot...but there weren't any. So I will be back again once they track one down.
 Maybe we should have gone directly to the A&E in the big town after all...:(

The nurse did strap it up a bit, which has made it a bit more comfortable. In order to keep the bandage clean, I have donned a plastic bag (Gloucester Rugby), using a bit of elastic to hold it on...very stylish!!

I am washing some cheap fleeces I got @ Dunelm Mill last week to make a bag and some arm-covers for my friend's wheelchair. There will be plenty left, so I might make me some colourful bootees!! I can't get any socks on, nor my slippers, so I need to try something to keep my foot cosy...though it should be quite warm today methinks!

    Have a great day everyone.

:) Do any of you lovely people read or write a weight loss blog? I'm considering (only tentativley at the moment) starting one and I've been searching for examples. I can only find American ones and would really like to read some UK based ones as well.

I read Dietgirl but can't find any other good ones.

cheerfulness - my colleague was very apologetic this morning as she forgot the cookie recipe. She has promised to bring it tomorrow, though, so I'll let you know if she does. :)

Keiss - your homemade fleecy booties sound an inspired idea - I wish I was crafty enough to even consider making something like that.

rachbc - welcome to the thread (from someone who's been here less that a week ;):D). Well done on your 6 pound loss - that's a brilliant start. :T

mlz1413 - I'm glad your mum's finally making it back home. I'm sure it must be fantastic to be home after being stuck for so long.

thriftlady - sorry, no, I don't know of anything like that. Until I joined this thread, though, the diet-friendly possibilities of the internet hadn't occurred to me, so I'm probably not in a good position to comment.

    Today's meals:

Breakfast - wheat biscuits (own-brand weetabix) with the last of the stewed pears and semi-skimmed milk
Snack - banana; handful of dried cranberries and pecan nuts
Lunch - salami, pepper and potato salad; seeded muffin; two mandarins
Snack - honey-coated almonds (naughty, but at least it wasn't another cookie! :o)
Dinner - veg curry with spiced brown rice; fresh mango (which I'd been looking forward to all day and is disappointingly sour :()
Back after a very long break!
