    Congratulations blondy24 :).

Ragz, I love the badges :).

Well done to all loosers :).

The only way to motivate my husband to get fit is to loose weight myself. I start to look good and it makes him a wee bit insecure ;) .

I read an interesting article about re-training your brain to banish bad habits:

-Apparently first identify a bad habit (eg. unhealthy snacking after dinner in the evening).

-Then think of a more helpful replacement activity such as self manicure, soak in bath, piece of fruit, phone a friend, 10 minute walk etc.

-Then repeat this new behaviour at the same time and place (that you used to do the old bad habit), for at least 2 months, in order to hard-wire it into your brain (as this is exactly how a bad habit is created through repetition).

I am definately going to try this. First off I am ditching the evening snack in front of tv and replacing it with a self manicure, my nails always look a state. I will work on a good exercise habit too but need to work that one out carefully, so it is achievable.

If anyone has any ideas of a good habit to replace a bad habit for two months minimum, I would love to hear. The more ideas the better!

    Good luck everyone :)

Last night I made a list of must-do's for today, set the alarm clock for a reasonable time and made myself get up and start doing rather than thinking. Hopefully I've broken the need to sleep and will have a few good days ahead.

B - bowl of F&F, sk milk 2 cups of tea
L - will be pilchard salad. Hate the things but I was trying out a new effort-free can opener for DM and it was the first tin I grabbed from the cupboard! If I really can't eat them I'll offer them to the cats :D
D - Grilled gammon, dry-fried egg, hg tomatoes, last 3 little hg potatoes
Snacks - pear, melon, banana, mini cornetto
all interspersed with endless cuppa's :o

Excercise - washed bathroom floor on hands and knees, de-cobwebbed the whole house (ughh) vac'd upstairs, ironing this pm

    eta belated congratulations, blondy!
  • Afternoon All,

It's good to see the thread so busy with all the old and new faces. I've got work this afternoon from 2 till 5 and then aerobics and toning classes this evening are restarting so we've just had a cooked lunch. That way I can get by without cooking after work and without having a big meal straight before exercise.

    B: Banana
L: Chicken thigh, new potatoes (from the garden) with butter, creamed spinach, mushrooms and HG green beans.
T: Probably a couple of ryvitas with peanut butter or cream cheese with herbs and garlic served with HG cherry tomatoes. If I work really hard at aerobics I might allow myself a portion of apple crumble and custard when I get in.

Exercise: Have walked to the PO and back the long way round today so with that and walking to work and back plus walking to exercise class I should manage about 3 and a half miles in total. 50 minutes aerobics, 50 minutes LBT.

Afternoon all, and well done to all the losers - this thread's getting lighter all the time! :D

ragz - thanks for the exercise ideas - sadly I don't have room for an exercise bike in my tiny flat (I'm not even sure where I'm going to put my C-word tree this year ) and swimming's out as I can't (except straight downwards! :o), but I like the idea of trying some weights - I'll have to do some investigating. :)

    My day today goes:

B - muesli with a handful of dried cranberries and SS milk
L - pork and apple sandwich; pack of Hula Hoops (I haven't had those in years - yum!); apple
    S - banana
D - quorn fillet with veg and noodle stirfry; stewed rhubarb with LF fruit yoghurt

Exercise - a brief but energetic walk at lunchtime, dodging the rain clouds! ;)
Back after a very long break!

    Today

Breakfast - banana and a nescafe cappuccino thing (175 calories)
Snack - Chocolate digestive, coffee and two teas (toddler group!) (135 calories)
Lunch - Tuna mayo (light) sandwich on granary (no butter) (Under 400 calories, impressed with that)
Dinner - Veg in gravy (last night's dinner without the meat, about 500 calories)
Snack - Kelly's Clotted Cornish Cream and Blackberries ice cream. (50g, 100 calories... erm plus a few extra spoonfuls, so 150 lol)

Really need to get back into using my wii fit... hmm.... maybe I'll go turn it on.
ETA - DD (18 month old madam) only let me have 15 minutes on the Wii so only burned around 75 calories, but better than nothing.

Ragz - Is the wii fit good? I was thinking of treating myself to one, but not sure if they are benefical or not. I wanted to get the zumba for the wii too, anyone tried that?

    Today's plan;

Breakfast: 2 x weetabix with s/s milk. A fruit tea
    Snack: 1 biscuit and coffee
Lunch: LO pasta salad and water
Snack: Handful of brazil nuts and 2 fruit tea
Tea: Chicken, new potatoes and salad
Drink: Extra fruit tea/water in the evening.
  • Wow its busy on here, great though to hear how you are all getting on.

Thanks for the banana bread recipe Ragz, we often end up with too many banans so a good way to use them up.
Also like the badges on the weight loss challenge, I get so much childish delight from such things.

Had pasta with HG peas, blue cheese and pine nuts last night. The recipe was orriginaly made with savoy cabbage, is often made with spinach and last night, due to not having either of those became peas. Its not very low in fat or calories but tastes great and is really easy. As we were taking Harry to puppy class last night we needed a quick meal.

Harry did great in class but I need much more training! I am not keen on the trainer as a person, her methods are great and really work but somehow she sets me on edge, hope I can stand her for five more weeks for Harry's sake as he loves class and came home shattered.

    I love reading everyone's posts - it's so motivating!

b - shreddies with semi skimmed milk - 154 cals
    l - ham sandwich (232 cals) sunbites (120 cals) fruit cookie (150 cals) - 502 cals
    s - co$ta coffee hot chocolate - 262 cals
    t - chicken and noodles (273 cals) cheddar cheese :o (200 cals) - 473 calories

    Total: 1391 calories

Slightly higher than I wanted, but I really fancied a hot chocolate so decided to treat myself :) hopefully it won't impact in the long run.

Blondy Wii fit - When I was doing it every day (in the winter) and burning over 200 calories (which takes about 45 minutes doing aerobic bits like the jogging, hula hoop etc) I found it really helped, the daily weighing kept me on track and motivated me and knowing I had exercised seemed to make me eat better too. I lost over a stone when using it, of course it was mostly the eating less but the little extra exercise certainly helped and as it was winter there was little else I fancied doing. I have since taken up more strenuous forms of exercise like running and swimming so I didn't use it for ages but I hope I can get back into it as winter comes along. I also had MyFitnessCoach, which seemed more aerobic (starjumps etc), only used it once so can't comment on that. The dance fitness games are meant to be good.
