Today i learnt that toast for breakfast (even WW toast) is a no go. I ended up eating more bread when i got home for some reason.

Monday i had no breakfast and was fine snacking on fruit and having salad for lunch.

Tomorrow i shall test porridge for breakfast and see how i get on. If not, I am going to admit defeat and accept i just don't do breakfast.

    Morning all.

bramble - I know exactly what you mean about breakfast leading you to eat more as I used to be exactly the same - if I ate breakfast I'd be starving by mid-morning and end up eating far more than if I skipped breakfast entirely. I now eat breakfast with no problems but it took me many years to get to this stage - I guess breakfast just doesn't work for some people, despite what the experts say.

B - two yellow stickied croissants with HM raspberry and redcurrant jam. Not exactly a weightloss-friendly breakfast but incredibly yummy and very OS / MSE. :money:
    S - nectarine

    Right, decision made:

L - chilli noodle veg pot; mini pack Indian snacks (1 mini samosa, 1 mini onion bhaji, 1 mini veg pakora)
S - handful of Victoria plums
D - probably lentil, bacon and tomato salad with olive focaccia

Exercise - walk to the shops at lunchtime; probably a short walk this evening as I'm feeling nosy and want to see precisely how much damage was caused by a massive fire last night, not far from where I live.

    Have a good day, all.
Back after a very long break!

Breakfast is often a problem here too - by the time I've got up and done all I need it it's heading towards 10am, too near lunchtime to have a decent breakfast so it just tends to be a piece of fruit.

    B - missed as out til 12.30pm
L - 2 slices toasted WW wm, lf Philly, lf Cheddar
D - Cold chicken salad. Rhubarb with 1 scoop lf ice cream
Snacks pear, plums, banana, handful cashews.

    Morning all.

A little off topic, but is anyone else having problems with thanking posts? I keep thanking people then, when I next look, my vote of thanks has vanished. Please don't think I'm ungrateful, anyone - it seems to be a technical glitch!

    Anyway, my day today goes:

B - HN shredded wheat with SS milk
S - a 'pitta' peach - one of the funny flat ones, which also seem to be known as doughnut peaches. I haven't tried one before and am quite looking forward to it. :)
L - small portion of HM healthy moussaka (bulked out with lentils and grated carrot, as I recall); what's left of the olive bread from last night (which isn't much - I'm going to have to stop buying it as I can't resist eating far more than I should :o)
    S - two Victoria plums
D - cheese and onion quiche, roasted tomatoes and baked beans

    Have a good day, all.

    Hey all,

Am starting a bit of dieting but am mostly going to the gym every day. The best way to lose weight I have found is by building up lean muscle, as it raises your resting metabolic rate (how fast your body burns calories over the whole day, not just when you're active). So am doing weights workout 3-4 times a week, and cardio twice on top of that.

Just wanted to add from skimming this thread, a lot of people are judging weight loss based on their weight, and they are also working out. This is not an ideal way to quantify weight loss, as muscle gains can overshadow your fat loss. I have had far too many friends give up on their diet and workout, as they have put weight back on! But in reality they had lost fat and put on muscle.

The best way to measure weight loss quickly, is to work on inches. e.g. Inches around waist, inches around buttocks etc.

I hope this helps a lot of MSE'rs as I would hate to see people give up!

Also on a side note, in terms of diet I recommend checking out the 'slow carb diet', worked well for me and I didn't yo-yo off of it once I finished, I stayed healthy for a good year (until I moved for work and got a 'Consultants Trophy').

    Morning all.

Weigh day today and I've put on another pound. :( I'm not surprised as my motivation is non-existent at the moment - if anyone finds it can you send it on to me, please? ;)

I've decided to take the weekend off then make another determined effort from Monday - I've only got 1.5kg to go to reach my target for this year. (My intention has always been to stop dieting at the end of the summer and concentrate only on keeping the weight off - I tend to suffer from a rather low mood in the autumn and winter and I'm worried that trying (and possibly failing) to lose weight might be enough to trigger a bout of genuine depression. :()

I probably won't bother posting over the weekend - I'm not planning on going widely OTT but it won't be good enough to post - so have a good weekend, all, and I'll see you on Monday, hopefully with motivation restored. :o

    Morning All,

I've not had time to post for a couple of days what with visitors, work, babysitting and a barbecue. I've stuck to the careful eating though so not done too bad. I've not had time for any long walks but have still done my exercise DVD every morning. I'm sitting here in my exercise gear now, just summing up the enthusiasm to get started this morning. I haven't the same impetus as I've no plans till work this evening at 5pm.

    B: Raspberries with Greek yoghurt.
L: HM pancake stuffed with bacon, mushrooms and onions and topped with cheese. Served with either home grown salad or home grown green beans.
    D: Prawn salad wrap, pear.

Exercise: 20 minutes DVD. Walk to work and maybe a walk into town and back at some point this afternoon.
