Morning all
Made a change to our dinner last night, decided it was still too hot for ragu, so made spicy lamb koftas with the mince instead, and a tray of roasted veg (onions, carrots, courgette and aubergine, with 1tbsp olive oil, 1 tbsp sherry vingear, 1tbsp honey and a heaped tsp harissa paste, lush!), and we had them in pittas with FF fromage frais.
Today's meals;
Breakfast: Melon, half a granola bar. The other half is calling from my desk drawer now
Lunch: houmous, rocket and roasted veg wrap, pear, orange
Dinner: sort of spaghetti carbonara, made with philadelphia as I'm allergic to eggs!
SF, can you post the receipe for the sweet/sour pork steak? it sounds lush!Little monkey born November 2012:jFroglet due March 20160 -
Morning all.
Please excuse the late post today - I think I slightly over-did the cider at the pub quiz last night. At least I don't have to go to work today!
Today won't be a particularly healthy day, I confess now:
Brunch - baguette with ham and egg; fresh plums
S - LF strawberry yoghurt with chopped banana and melon
D - pizza and salad, with a glass or two of the wine my sister brought me when she visited last weekend (it was a present to her but she doesn't drink red wine as it gives her migraines)
Exercise - I need to sort out the last few pots in the garden so that will involve a fair bit of lifting and carrying.
empy - I'm fairly certain you can use drinking chocolate in place of cocoa, but you'll need to reduce the amount of sugar as drinking chocolate is sweetened already. Enjoy your sponge!Back after a very long break!0 -
Oh dear. Confession time. It wasn't me that did all the damage Your Honour, I swear. It was my partner in crime, a woman in Asda who marked down an enormous tub of taramasalata with a Yellow Sticker to 5p. As the prosecution so eloquently put it to me, I was not in fact bending and stretching to an exercise DVD on the night of August 4th, but was sat on the sofa guzzling the aforementioned taramasalata (exhibit A). If you're considering sentencing me to a massive gain on weigh-in day, please bear in mind my previous good character and that time I ate two Ryvita while everyone else was eating cheesecake.
I hope everyone else is doing rather better. I've not caught up with all the posts yet and it might be some time before I can. I've just upgraded my PC from Windows XP to Windows 7 and it doesn't like my graphics card much. Until a new one turns up next week this is a lot like trying to read a large print Janet and John book through a letterboxFreddie Starr Ate My Signature

oh dear, I must admit to just eating a caramel and almond mini-magnum.:o In my defense it was to support my colleagues, as I had to do a survey for the peeps in Ice Cream before I got it

Hello lovely OSers,
My brain is scrambled-having attempted to complete mhy tax return! God, I hate doing that, still can't make head nor tail of what they want from me even after all these years of doing it! Have now passed it on to brainy SIL accountant to peruse and laugh over!
Yesterday, DH came home and brought me a bag of crisps (cheeseburger flavour!! could only taste gherkin!) so I shared them with him. Before that though I did eat some peanut butter straight from the jar!!!!
Anyway, today I have mostly been eating,
B. Oats, sultanas & skim.
L. Egg, lettuce & tomato sandwich with mayo, apple.
D. Meatloaf, gravy, mash, carrots & broad beans.
P. Yogurt & jam.
Drinks. 200ml skim with Redbush, water.
Approx. 1650 cals.
However, tomorrow is my 1st wedding anniversary:D and we are going out for the day then out for dinner in the evening so I know tomorrow is going to be terrible diet-wise! I shall W.I. before we go in the morning, (I normally weigh in on Sat mornings after my long dog walk so at least I'll have the rest of the week to work it off)!
So wish me luck everyone and good luck to everyone else

Hi all,
Does anyone on here have any tips for not snacking?
I've tried all and sundry diets, but have established I eat not out of hunger, but out of boredom! I primarily work from home, and with no one to talk to etc I find myself wandering to the fridge with alarming frequency!
I've recently been trying the Dukan diet and whilst I know this forum isn't about fad diets, it has proven I eat for comfort/boredom not hunger.
Today I have totally sabotaged my efforts by eating an entire Milka chocolate bar- and hidden the wrapper.
I have about 5st to lose and have only lost about 5lb since Christmas :embarasse
I know it's all about willpower but I don't know where to start. Any tips really would be gratefully received - I've a wedding to go to just before Christmas so that is my short (ish) term goal.
Thanks
Today I've had:
B: Oat bran porridge with semi skimmed milk, sugar-free squash
L: 3 x hotdog sausages, 3 slices wafer thin ham
Guilty snack: Milka alpine milk bar
Dinner is steak with chilli and garlicBefore you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!0 -
smartiedriver I stopped picking when I stopped buying the foods I picked at. Seems simple but can still be tempting when I'm shopping. I just have to avoid the snacks/crisps/biscuit aisles altogether, I'm getting better at it but it does take a lot of practice!
B - missed as I had to be out early
L - lf Philly and tomato sandwich
D - ham & mushroom omelette
Snacks - grapes, 2 apricots, satsuma, apple
Got friends in for the day on Sunday, I don't so much eat more when they're here, but when I'm prepping the food. Fortunately they're all on a diet of one sort or another so nothing too naughty on the menu
eta exercise - moved the furniture around in the lounge - twice! (wasn't happy with it the first time;))0 -
Smartiedriver, I had problem with snacking and also just stopped buying the food that I knew wasn't good to pick at. Now I have planned snacks, such as a piece or fruit etc and am ok with that. Try using some of your calories for something you like at the end of the day, then if you know you have something to look forward to, it may help you stop picking the wrong stuff0

No, but after this evening I can promise that there are two portions of apple crumble and evaporated milk that won't be around to tempt the world any more. SuperSnacker will no doubt save the planet again tomorrow - same fat time, same fat channel.
I have the 'boredom' snacking thing too, and I also have the 'busy' snacking thing, but only at the keyboard. Working from home with my PC (website building and software programming, with the odd bit of alleged 'graphic artistry') does not bring in the fortune that some might expect, so I taught myself years ago how to take advantage of busy periods and yet still manage to eat, by doing both at the same time. Unfortunately I can now do it without thinking, and it's often when I've been on a roll work-wise that I look back on the day and realise that I've troughed a lot while I was at it too. One day soon I am going to have to work on something for myself that will subliminally flash up a message on screen at regular intervals. 'Oi - stay away from the fridge, lardy!'
I also find it a lot harder to stick to the plot in the summer than I do in the winter. I know it's supposed to be the other way round, but I think the heat fries my brain and melts any resolve that's usually there. It then makes perfect sense to me that when it gets as hot as it has been lately, the best place to be is with your head stuck in an open freezer, cooling your fingers in a box of own brand cornettos...Freddie Starr Ate My Signature

I'm another who finds not buying snack food helps avoid the snacking. This was brought home to me last night babysitting DGD as I really felt like eating something but couldn't find anything I fancied in DS and DIL's house and didn't want to start rummaging through their cupboards.
I've had another busy day; a shopping trip from around 11 till 3 and then work 5 till 10.30. I had the delightful pleasure of trawling the charity shops to treat myself to lots of new items of clothing in size 8 or 10. I've had to get rid of so much in the last few months and don't want to spend much on new outfits until I have reached my 8st 7lb target (just 6lbs to go).
B: Stewed rhubarb with Greek yoghurt. Banana.
L: 2 poached eggs on 2 slices of wholemeal toast. Iced raspberry smoothie and yoghurt bar.
Snack: Small icecream cone. 5 coffee flavoured sweets.
T: (At work) Feta and grapes. Plus a tsp of peanut butter just now when I got in!!
Exercise: 20 minutes exercise DVD. Walking round the shops for a couple of hours and back to the car and walking to work so about 2 miles in total.
